In our case, we are required to have at least three board members. This coming year, we will have four. This means that we will need more people to step up and volunteer to help in order to keep things rolling. And next year, well, you know. 3 HOME DÉCOR TRENDS FOR 2020

NEUTRALSVery strong for 2020 are neutrals, they are not going anywhere! We will be seeing more bone, and wool white, and softer tones and tints of white. While gray is still popular the shift is moving from gray to bone.

DULLED DOWN BLUESBlue was the up and coming color in 2019 and now it’s the “it” color. This new decorating trend blue is moody and muddied and darker.

GEOMETRIC DESIGNGeometric designs have been popular for a few years and they are here to stay for another year. Geometric wallpaper, lighting, furnishings, and accents! The lines are clean and thin. Nothing clunky or heavy.

From the BoardJoanne Bialas—President The “Berm” has nally been approved by all parties and is underway. Please note that while agreat deal of time and attention has been paid to this very costly project, we have done every-thing possible to keep the costs down and still proceed within the guidelines set forth by Countyregulators. Our Association legal team has been involved from day one to walk us through anyand all options and while we are in fact an HOA board made up of volunteers, we do believe that we have made all of the best decisions possible given the circumstances. It will take some time to replenish the funds in our reserve system, but it will happen and we will continue to make need-improvents and maintain them to the best of our abilities with the help of our property manage-ment team. Thank you for your continued support of our community!

Derek Matthews—Vice President 1/ACC We’ve been getting more visitors to our monthly meetings lately, in large part because of the numerous ACC requests being submitted — especially roofs and painting. Many of our homes are beyond 20+ years old, so it’s time. If you are unsure as to whether or not you need to sub-mit an ACC request, feel free to check with me or reach out to our property manager at Green-acres. As a general guideline, if it is outside of your home, you probably need one.

Also, as a reminder, please be sure to submit all of your ACC requests to the board before begin-ning work on your homes. There are many guidelines to follow with regards to roofs and paintcolors and many homes are being done. If you need any help, please email [email protected].

Laura Moses—Vice President 2/CSAC I am coming to the end of my rst year serving on the HOA board for Twin Lakes and have some thoughts to share. When my husband and I decided to make our home in Twin Lakes 10 years ago it was for many reasons. We loved the lake and the park and the great schools. But we really loved the idea of a community that came together over events. As a board member I have repeatedly asked for volunteers and ideas on what residents would like to see as events. I have received none and no input. These are free events, sometimes with free food and entertainment put on entirely for the enjoyment of the community. So please take a walk down to the park to enjoy them. Text, email, attend a board meeting and get involved in any way. We have a beautiful community with lots going on. Come be a part of it and help make Twin Lakes the best it has ever been!

Irene Cusack—TreasurerArt in the Park, our arts and crafts show was held in Zeina Park on September 14th. We had arts and crafts with vendors from all over the area, but especially some creative works from within our own Twin Lakes community. This year we had free food, a wonderful DJ and many vendors. In addition, we held our rst ever Custom Car Show featuring cars from the Roamin’ Oldies in Sun City Center. We also had several cars from Twin Lakes Homeowners on hand for the displaying of these beautiful cars. One homeowner, Tom Schmidt from Heron Point won 3rd place with his classic corvette.

Please remember to keep an eye on the announcement board, the website, and of course this news-letter which comes out quarterly to be in know about upcoming events including board meetings and more!

Mark Gaudio— Secretary/CALM Hello Twin Lakes Neighbors, Hope some of you have noticed the new plantings around Lake Michaela. It appears they’re thriving in their new home. It does take time, even for Florida native plants, to grow fully into their environment. I think you’ll like what you see as they continue to ourish.

And, if you have any other landscape suggestions, please let me know. We can always try to t things into the budget, either this year or next.

I look forward to seeing you all at the next board meeting.

Halloween has been called All Hallows’ Eve, Witches Night, Lamswool, Snap-Apple Night, Samhaim, and Summer’s End.

The rst Jack O’Lanterns were actually made from turnips

The word “witch” comes from the Old English wicce, meaning “wise woman.” In fact, wiccan were highly respected people at one time.

The owl is a popular Halloween image. In Medieval Europe, owls were thought to be witches, and to hear an owl's call meant someone was about to die.

According to Irish legend, Jack O’Lanterns are named after a stingy man named Jack who, because he tricked the devil several times, was forbidden entrance into both heaven and hell. He was condemned to wander the Earth, waving his lan-tern to lead people away from their paths.

Trick-or-treating harks back to the Middle Ages and All Souls’ Day, when poor people in Britain would beg for soul cakes, a sweet-bread treat, and pray for dead relatives in return. When trick-or-treating rst became popular in the United States in the 1800s, more children played mischievous pranks than asked for candy. By the 1950s, though, the focus had switched to good old family fun, with sugar-hyped children dressed in costumes.

Candy Corn was originally called Chicken Feed. Over 35 million pounds are produced every year, which is about 9 billion pieces.

Orange and black are traditional Halloween colors. Orange represents the harvest and black darkness. Over 90% of parents admit to sneaking candy from their kids Halloween bag.
