Dear Friends, I have always looked forward to the month of October. While they may be few and far between, there will be days this month with cooler temperatures and lower humidity. October seems to be a less hurried month than most, so use some of that extra time to enjoy all the branch has to offer this month. Check the newsletter for all the regular interest group activities as well as any special events. AAUW relies on its membership numbers to provide the necessary resources to accomplish its mission. On Sunday, October 6th the Baton Rouge branch will host an Open House at the Main Library on Goodwood from 6-8 p.m. We are asking members to bring their favorite appetizer or pick up sweet
to share and to invite a potential member to come with you to the Open House. We will recognize the new members who have joined our branch in the last year as well as provide materials to introduce guests to AAUW. I encourage you to attend. Please RSVP to Rebecca Triche at [email protected]. Don’t forget to vote on October 12 and have a Happy Halloween! Until next month, June Klimash

Remember Eleanor Earle? Maybe you’ve just heard her name as the title of our Scholarship Fund. Eleanor was a very long-term member of our branch and was one of the best supporters of our scholarship fund. Continue to page 3 to learn more about Eleanor and the jewelry.

As a fundraiser for the scholarship fund, Eleanor Earle found Lucinda pins. (See Lucinda.com). Turns out we still have some left. And, turns out, Lucinda also made earrings.
So, check out the picture of pins (in the center) and earrings around the outside. The earrings have different backs than the fronts so you’ll look good from both directions.
If you are interested, contact treasurer Pam Baldwin (see contact info on page 1). Prices are $15 each.
The money will go toward our scholarship fund, the Eleanor Earle Scholarship Fund!
