After debuting on the Forbes billionaire ranks last year, Binod Chaudhary who

built most of his fortune overseas, remains Nepal's only billionaire. His conglomerate, the Cinnovation/CG Group's assets include a controlling stake in Nepal's Nabil Bank, a fast growing foods business best known for instant noodle brand Wai Wai and a string of hotels in Asia and more recently, in Africa where in a joint venture with Uganda's Mukwano group he's building hotels in Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi.

Last year, CG diversified into telecom when it bought out ST Telecom, a rural telecom operator. Chaudhary, who never went to college, joined the family's textile trading business four decades ago and went on to expand his inheritance overseas. His three sons work with him; the eldest Nirvaan oversees interests in Nepal while Rahul and Varun are stationed abroad.

What inspired the idea of building a cricket stadium?

CG has been a major supporter of bringing Cricket up for the last 10 years.

We were the first corporate in Nepal to partner with Cricket Association of Nepal and support all teams across and tournaments since then. Please find attached a powerpoint of CG's role in Cricket. With the recent performance and de-velopment of cricket in Nepal, it is natural, when we see that the govt is not moving up to the speed of creating the right infrastructure for CG to again come up and extend hand to the govt to help build the infrastructure for helping crick-et grow and stadium is a basic necessity.

Our vision is to do a sports city which will have not only stadium but other training ground/ staying facilities etc in PPP model with govt.

An "international standard sta-dium" as you say will cost you millions of dollars-with serious

money involved you are definitely not doing thus just as a social re-sponsibility! do you think Cricket in nepal has the potential to give back such massive amounts?

Yes . Nepal has the potential to develop as Inter-national Cricketing Spot like Sharjahan / Dubai of 80s. It will also help Tourism Industry in Nepal to a large extent.

Will you still build a cricket venue if government is not ready to part-ner with you?

There was a similar case for cleaning the place where people are cremated in Pashupati and we took it as challenge and helped give it a shape. Private sector would have only limited role and resources in such investments which ideally need to be planned by the govt. We will wait

for govt to invite us to discuss various options.

Why did Cg end the sponsorship with Women's Cricket?

We are still proud sponsor of under 19 Women's Cricket.

Can we expect something else from Cg beside the stadium?

We have been and are committed in supporting youth based activities like Cricket and have been fulfilling our responsibilities.

Why is Cg not part of nepal Pre-mier league?

CG cannot do and be everywhere. We have de-cided that CG is known for national teams and tournaments and cannot chose one team and promote it.

We believe in overall holistic development of cricket at all levels.

Nepal's pioneer industrialist Binod Chaudhary, who was named as Nepal's first billionaire last year, has for the first time featured in the new Hurun Global Rich List 2014, a billionaire list compiled by Hurun Report Inc., a company based in Shanghai, China.On the latest Hurun rich list, unveiled at the end of February, he was ranked the 1,735th with 1 billion U.S. dollars worth of fortune. His main business is in the food and beverage sector.In March 2013, the New York-based Forbes maga-zine placed Chaudhary Group (CG) President Binod Chaudhary in the 1,342nd position in its 2013 Bil-lionaires List.According to the Hurun list, a total of 414 billion-aires have been added in 2013 as compared to the previous year.The list includes 481 American billionaires and 358 billionaires from China.Source: China.org.cn
