2015 GCC energy subsidy $160 bn/yr (Dhs 588 bn) or 10% of GDP.2016 ~70% of GCC power capacity in the GCC (149 GW) is for AC.2026 AC Will Need ~70 GW ($140 billion) of new capacity

→ $25-30bn/year of LNG.2050 Peak temperatures could rise by 4 deg C.2050 Heat waves could last 80 days / year. 118 d/yr by 2100.

→ Could cause population migration crisis.

2013 EU: Heating/cooling uses ~50% of EU’s energy consumption.2015 US: Residential/commercial buildings use ~33% of all energy

use and GHG emissions, and 50% of electricity consumption. 2016 A/C emits ~700 million metric tons of CO2 emissions annually.2017 Buildings use ~40% of global energy and emit ~33% of global

greenhouse gases. → (HVAC systems typically consume around 70% of a base building’s energy usage).

2050 A/C energy use up 4.5x over 2010.

The Impact of HVACSources: World Bank, IMF, PWC, MEES, EY, IEA, Apicorp, IRENA, EIA, etc.

The GCC

Globally

Business-As-Usual: Expensive & Unsustainable.

Solution: TermoDeck HVAC – Radiant Cooling / Thermal Energy Storage In Concrete

We spend >90% of our time indoors.

Well-sealed buildings are linked to sick building syndrome (WHO).

Air pollution is the fourth biggest risk factor for mortality globally (causing

respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, cancer, allergies and asthma).

Indoor air can far more polluted than outdoor air (2-100x).

EU: every extra 1 ug/m2 of PM2.5 pollution reduces GDP 0.8%

Aggregate worldwide cost of premature deaths due to air pollution > $5tn (2013)

Conventional AC Adds: Height, Costs, Material, Time

TermoDeck Has No Unnecessary Conduits/

Mechanical Devices.

TermoDeck Cuts Costs:

Integrate structure w/HVAC:

→~50% less installed HVAC capacity→~30% less power

Easier / Faster to build / No wasted height

→Lower building height

→More floors

radiated to evenly cool and ventilate : occupants, comfortably and naturally,

wherever they are in the room.

Nighttime: slabs cool down efficiently

Daytime: slabs absorb/store energy efficiently cooling the space

Conventional AC vs TermoDeck Ventilated Concrete Slabs

Conventional AC dictates so much of the design of the structure and its

operations. There is a better way.

It is time to change!

TermoDeck starts design with the end-user in mind. Comfort, health, budget, convenience.

TermoDeck: Superior Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) / Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ)

→ No Possibility of Bacteriological Growth

Air Sampler

at Diffuser

Superior Occupant Comfort & Health

Swab test measured

microbiological activity on the slab surface →

“Not Detected”.

Air sampling measured

quality of the air exiting the

slab

Office built in 2000/2001 (at the time of the test, in operation for 16 years). Regular inspection of the hollowcore slabs showed them to be clean and thus not requiring any additional treatment. The air quality test measured the dust, mold and bacteria

present in the cores’ surfaces, and the air exiting the cores into the occupied spaces. Results were outstanding.

1. Healthier Radiant Cooling + Convection

2. Silent Operations / Stable Temperatures 24/7

3. Supply Air Temperature is Only a Few Degrees

Higher Than Room Temperature

4. Higher % of Fresh Air.

5. No Internal Air Recirculation.

6. No Bacteriological Growth

7. No Equipment / Maintenance internally.

8. Continues Cooling if Power Interrupted.

Hydronic & Conventional HVAC

Excessive layer of micro-dust and contaminants in conventional AC ducting and false ceiling.

Dirty and contaminated FCU condensate drain trays in conventional AC (and after cleaning and disinfection).

TermoDeck Ventilated Concrete Slabs: Simplicity By Design

All HVAC Equipment is outdoors.Only air supply ducts and slabs indoors.Single system provides heating, cooling and ventilation.

No equipment in the occupied spaces = → Comfort→ low-cost→ Simplified Maintenance→ Healthier Indoor Environment.

TermoDeck wins WGBC (World Green Building Council) MENA award for Indoor Air Quality (2018)

Extensive pipe/pump network → Risk of leaks, cold/hot spots, blockages.

Reduced thermal storage, with additional ventilation system.Heavy maintenance.

Filtration and Sterilization of the Air Volume at AHU

→ With TermoDeck, entire air volume is returned to the AHU. → Sustainable design ensures significantly lower power consumption

compared to conventional.

→ Filtration (including HEPA - High Efficiency Particulate Air - filters), helps purify incoming air.

→ HEPA filters Designed to capture 99.97% of particles > 0.3 microns. → Enough to capture most pathogens.

→ Coronavirus ranges from 0.06 - 0.14 microns. Some virus will pass filters.

Additional protection: Add UV-C sterilizer (Germicidal Irradiation) module to AHU.→ Neutralize all viruses in the air-path. (UV-C wavelength damages the virus’

DNA/RNA, destroying its ability to replicate.)→ Additional UV-C modules can also be placed in the main supply ducts.

→ Ensures almost total sterilization of the entire air volume.

→ With TermoDeck sustainable HVAC, we reduce the overall air volume; increase the fresh air component, avoid in-room recirculation,

→ Filtration and sterilization help ensure a clean, healthy constant supply of treated (i.e. filtered, cooled or heated) air.
