Itinerary Day 1- THU

ATHENS, Greece-ARRIVAL Welcome to Greece! Welcome to Athens! This is the place where the modern civilization originated. Our driver will be waiting for you at the custom’s exit at the airport. Please look for a lollypop sign with your name “MCDONALD” on it (see attached copy) This sign will be displayed also by our drivers in Santorini and Dubrovnik. Driver will take you to a nice hotel in city center of Athens walking distance to Acropolis. Since it will be fairly late by the time you get to hotel, just take time and relax and get good-night sleep and get over that jet-lag.

Day 2- FRI

ATHENS Breakfast at hotel in Athens. No activities have been planned but a private sightseeing tour can be arranged. Otherwise, you can explore this fascinating city on your own. You must see the Acropolis and visit the Archeological Museum of Greece. Explore also Athens’ culinary scene. There are many good restaurants in Plaka area. Overnight in Athens NOTE: Greece hotels charge “tourist tax” of up to 4.00 EUR per person per day which unfortunately cannot be pre-paid and hotels demand this tax to be paid directly by gusts upon check-out.

Day 3- SAT

ATHENS-ALIMOS MARINA Breakfast at hotel and entire morning free in Athens. We will arrange later check out (conditional). Check-out at 3:00 PM when our driver will meet you and take you to Alimos Marina where your yacht and skipper are waiting for you. Embarkation is at 5:00 PM and depend on weather condition, skipper will decide to either stay and overnight in Marina or lift the anchor and sail away. Skipper will always try to accommodate you and suggest places to stop and eat. Cyclades Sailing Itinerary begins in Athens, at Alimos Marina. Alimos Marina is one of the largest marinas in Greece and is the perfect place to arrive at your sailing boat and rest before beginning your Cyclades Sailing Itinerary. The marina is located close to a large number of bars, restaurants and a supermarket to stock up on necessities for your trip. Skipper will also assist with suggestions as which supplies to buy initially.

Day 4- SUN

CRUISING CYCLADES

Alimos Marina,Kythnos, Merichas

(40NM)

Your skipper will consult with you on daily basis and give you choices of places and islands to visit, estimate sailing times and give you basic information on places to be visited, their attractions, history, dining choices and other facilities and possible activities. The following is only suggested itinerary. Day two of our Cyclades Sailing Itinerary we depart from Athens and head to the island of Kythnos. Kythnos is an island filled with colorful flowers, bright blue waters, golden beaches and on your way to the port of Merichas you can stop and explore one of Greece’s largest caves – Katafiki Cave in Dryopida. You can also stop around the island to swim in the picturesque bays. Overnight Anchorage: Merichas is the main port on the west coast of the island. The port has a ferry dock, and a small pier. While there is no serrate place to moor inside the port, just outside of the seawall there are arrows which indicate positions where mooring is available.

Day 5- MON

CRUISING CYCLADES

Kythnos Mericha → Syros (20NM) On day three of our itinerary, we head from Kythnos to the island of Syros. Syros is a small island filled with spectacular coloured buildings and culture, and is predominately off the regular tourist track. A great place to spend the night is in Finikas, on the southwest coast of the island. This is a quiet village filled with taverns, bars, and coffee shops, and is a great place to anchor as it offers good protection from the Meltemi. Overnight Anchorage: Mooring is available at a small marina (spaces limited) as well as anchoring offshore outside the breakwater.

Day 6- TUE

CRUISING CYCLADES

Syros → Mykonos (18 NM)

Day four brings our Cyclades Sailing Itinerary to the famous island of Mykonos. The island is known for its perfect white architecture and nightlife scene. Here you can anchor at Mykonos Old Port harbor, in the center of everything or choose to anchor in the beautiful beaches at Aghia Anna bay. Overnight Anchorage: Mykonos Old Port in the harbor or at Aghia Anna bay off-shore with a predominantly sandy floor.

Day 7- WED

CRUISING CYCLADES

Page 4: Presents Romancing Greece & Croatia · Syros → Mykonos (18 NM) Day four brings our Cyclades Sailing Itinerary to the famous island of Mykonos. The island is known for its perfect

Mykonos → Kea (44NM) Just 44 NM away from Mykonos is the large bay of Agios Nikolaos on the northeast side of Kea. Agios Nikolaos is one of the safest naturally formed harbors in the Aegean Sea area. Kea is a beautiful island filled with ancient ruins, quaint towns, and cosmopolitan and friendly locals. Old churches, beaches, mills, towers, and windmills fill the island with picture-perfect locations and exciting places to discover. We suggest anchoring in Agios Nikolaos for your first night (a marina to the northeast of the bay is Vourkari). Overnight Anchorage: In Vourkari either off-shore anchorage or stern-to at the quay.

Day 8- THU

CRUISING CYCLADES

Kea → Sounion (12NM)

Sounion is located on the southern most point of mainland Greece. It was once fortified to protect the city of Athens. Sounion is home to the unique Temple of Poseidon (Greek Goddess of the Sea), on the top of the cliffs you can find this picturesque building, which also offers a great place to watch the sunset from. Sounion is known for it’s historic buildings, spirit and achievements, while also being a great place to swim and relax. Overnight Anchorage: Sounion Bay or Legrana Bay are great places to drop your anchor and spend the night.

Day 9- FRI

ALIMOS- MARINA

Sounion → Athens Alimos (25NM)-Overnight Since the boat has to be returned Saturday morning, skipper will navigate and your will spend last night on board docked in Alimos Marina.

Page 6: Presents Romancing Greece & Croatia · Syros → Mykonos (18 NM) Day four brings our Cyclades Sailing Itinerary to the famous island of Mykonos. The island is known for its perfect

Welcome to Dubrovnik! We are delighted you selected Croatia as part of your trip and we at Mediterra’s Croatian staff will do everything possible to make your trip fun, worry-free, memorable and enjoyable. We will meet you at DBV airport upon arrival and provide private transfer to your hotel in Dubrovnik. After you settle and refresh at your hotel, our local “cousin” will meet you and take on a 2-3.0 hour walking tour of Dubrovnik’s Old Town. She will tell you all about Dubrovnik’s turbulent history and show you all major attractions and monuments.

Dubrovnik, “Pearl of the Adriatic”, is arguably the most fascinating city in the region, one of the top ten destinations in Croatia, and a line item on countless bucket lists. It is a magnet for Adriatic cruises, and it is not unusual during peak season to see 5 or 6 ocean liners anchored outside the city. The sight of these magnificent vessels against the stunning backdrop of Dubrovnik and the sparkling azure sea is the stuff of millions of postcards. During the centuries when Venice ruled the seas and controlled great swaths of world trade, Dubrovnik was an independent and rival republic, competing with Venice in the Mediterranean. Yet they never raised arms against each other - in fact they were trading partners. Venetian influences can be seen in Dubrovnik’s monuments, churches and public buildings. The difference between them (besides the canals) was that Venice was open and accessible from all sides while Dubrovnik was a fortress with massive walls and strong defenses against invaders and pirates. It wasn’t until Napoleon occupied Dubrovnik in 1808 that these defenses were breached - and Dubrovnik’s prosperity of many centuries was curtailed. The entire Old City has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site, preserved with almost all its original buildings. Its city wall, 4.5 m/15 ft. thick and over 7.6 m/25 ft. tall, is topped by a 2 km/1.25 mi foot path – enjoy unforgettable views as you walk above the city’s orange-tiled roofs, narrow streets climbing the hills, and laundry flapping in the breeze. Another option is a cable-car ride up to the top of Dubrovnik hill for breathtaking views over the city below, the crayon-colored boats in the harbor, the nearby islands and the entire Riviera. Dubrovnik is a pedestrian zone, and its heart is full of attractions, perfect for leisurely exploration: city squares, old buildings, churches, museums, galleries, boutiques, cafés and romantic spots to charm you. Modern Dubrovnik may have expanded beyond the walls, but there are still about 5,000 residents living within the Old City. Their lifestyle is casual and friendly as residents talk to each other across the stone balconies of their sturdy houses, older than any building in America. You’ll love Dubrovnik! To learn more about Dubrovnik: http://www.tzdubrovnik.hr/lang/en/

City tour will end with cable car ride (cable-car tickets not included in price) to Mt. Srdj, just above the Old Town. The view on Old Town, Dubrovnik Riviera and Archipelago is absolutely stunning form this mountain and sunsets are breath-taking and memorable. Balance of day is free in Dubrovnik. Mediterra local staff will be on hand to assist with dining suggestions and reservations. Overnight in Dubrovnik.

Day 16-FRI

DUBROVNIK You will love exploring and walking tiny streets of Dubrovnik. Entire day is left for you to explore it. Overnight in Dubrovnik

Day 17-SAT

DUBROVNIK-MONTENEGRO-DUBROVNIK Sumptuous bubbly breakfast at hotel. After breakfast our driver will pick you up and take you on a full-day excursion to neighboring Montenegro (75 miles/2.0 h. drive each way). Croatia and Montenegro were once part of the same country-Yugoslavia and at the breakup fought fierce war 1991-95 against each other. But today, 27 years later, they leave in peace and trade has resumed between the two countries. Our Montenegrin “cousin” will join you t the border crossing and stay with you for the entire duration of this excursion in Montenegro. She will tell you history of the country and walk you through Bat of Kotor, medieval towns of Kotor, Tivat and Budva and will show you also world acclaimed super luxury Aman Sveti Stefan resort. We suggest a lunch at the resort in order to gain access. Several good restaurants with terraces overlooking the Adriatic are at your choice in Aman S. Stefan. After the day of touring of Montenegro, our driver will take you back to Dubrovnik.

DINNER PROGRAM: On the way back to Dubrovnik, we would like to invite you to be our gust for dinner at our family village retreat just outside Dubrovnik. You will have unique chance to take a peek into typical Croatian family and their life. For complete details, please see attached flyer “Kameni Dvori.” Return to hotel after dinner.

Day 18-SUN September 30

DUBROVNIK-PELJESAC-KORCULA-DUBROVNIK Sumptuous bubbly breakfast at hotel. Full-day excursion to Croatia’s wine country- peninsula of Peljesac and island of Korcula (pron. kor-chu-la). Peljesac is home to some of the best and most remarkable Croatian wines that include brands like Dingac and Plavac Mali (reds) and Poship (white). Plavac Mali is grandfather of popular California Zinfandel wine. Peljesac is also home to Napa vintner Mike Grgich’s Croatian winery (Grgic Vina). Mike Grgich Vintner’s home of famer was instrumental in proving the origins of California Zinfandel. This tour also includes our signature “Shellfish Galore” (see attached pamphlet) with unique chance to taste freshest shellfish pulled out of water in front of you. After this experience with fresh shellfish, we will continue up the peninsula to almost top of it to little port-town Orebic. From Orebic, there is a ferry service (15 min. ride) to neighboring island of Korcula which is one of the prettiest Croatian and Dalmatian islands. Korcula is believed to be also the birth place of legendary explorer Marco Polo. There is a house where he was born converted in a small museum. We will hop on one of the frequent ferries and visit this beautiful island. After Korcula, we will work our way back to Dubrovnik and time permitting, we will stop at several wineries including the Grgich Croatian winery. Late afternoon Return to Dubrovnik for overnight.
