Step 1: Pause- Compose self, allow space, Avoid Reacting- Thanks for that…- Interesting view, thanks for sharing….- I’d never thought of that, what makes you….- Wow, that was honest, how does everyone else

Step 2: Focus on positive intent– Assume whatever they have said or asked will be

helpful, be curious

Step 3: Acknowledge– Offer genuine appreciation for being challenged,
