Before you begin… a few notes about the tutorial

• Some slides take several seconds to decode (especially those with large graphics, photographs or detailed backgrounds).

• Please be patient. Watch the icon in the lower right corner to know that the Palm is actually decoding information.

When you see this icon in the bottom-right corner, your Palm is preparing your next slide for display.

Appearance of this icon in the lower right-hand corner lets you know your remote control is interfacing with the Palm

Note: There are IR ports on each side of the box at the end of the Presenter-to-Go cable. For best operation, keep the line of sight between the remote and these ports clear of obstacles.

1. Tap on pull down arrow to see the list of available presentations. Tap the presentation you want to make it active.

2. Tap to show the notes, slide title and text of each slide

3. Display information icon. Tapping on it gives you the resolutionand refresh rate of the display you are using.

4. Press for “Slide Preview”

5. When the slide is checked, it is visible during presentations, when un-checked, the slide is hidden.

Tools Menu

Drag & Drop Reorganization

You reorganize the order of slides by simply selecting a slide, and dragging & dropping it at the desired place. Following is an example, wherein the second slide has been moved down.

Menu: Tools

Copy: Copies active presentation between handheld memory and a memory card. The destination for COPY is the handheld memory if the source is a memory card, and vice-versa.

Move: Moves active presentation between handheld memory and a memory card. The destination for MOVE is the handheld memory if the source is a memory card, and vice-versa.

Delete: Deletes the active presentation.

Beam: Beams the active presentation to any handheld in range

Slide Show Properties

Menu: Show/Preferences

Automatic Slide Show needs settings for automatic transitions between slides. The timing can be set between 1 to 999 seconds. If the time is set to 000, then the next slide is shown as soon as it is ready.

LOOP (default) option is set to loop the presentation continuously.

If checked (default), the timer indicator will show in the lower right corner of the screen until the following slide is finished decoding.

If checked (default), the remote indicator will show when it receives a command from the remote control.

If checked, when you have your presentation in preview mode on your handheld, Annotation will allow you to annotate on your handheld screen and show these annotations to your audience.

MARGI Mirror

The MARGI Mirror application allows Presenter-to-Go owners to display the contents of their handheld’s LCD on a VGA projector or monitor. It allows the user to display the thousands of Palm applications and any data stored on their handheld.

MARGI Mirror Usage

1. Video - Select “Enable” to turn on the output VGA signals.*

2. Zoom - Which zoom you choose depends on the projector, LCD or

CRT you are using, the size of the room and the distance of the

projector from the screen or the monitor from the audience.¹

3. Update - Refers to the rate of update of the video display. A

faster display update is at the cost of increased CPU overhead.²

4. Color Scheme - Allows you to choose the color of the background

of monochrome handheld. The color chosen will represent what is

normally black on the handheld’s screen, except for “Black” which

in actuality is inverse. The default is “Green”. MARGI Mirror

supports color output from color handhelds.

5. About – Click here to find the version number of the MARGI Mirror

software you are using.

6. Display information icon – Clicking here gives you the resolution

and refresh rate of the display you are using.

*When you are done using this feature, select “Disable”.

Creating Mobile Presentations on Your Windows PC

Now you will learn how to create a mobile presentation from your Windows-Compatible computer

Presenter-to-Go presentations can be created directly from within Microsoft PowerPoint or from

any printable PC Application.

Windows PC Setup

PC Creation Software InstallationImportant Notice: Close all applications prior to running SETUP.

Insert the Presenter-to-Go CD, and it should automatically launch the self-guided

installation process.

If not, run SETUP on the Presenter-to-Go CD to install Presenter-to-Go Software

(and the PowerPoint Add-in.)

Re-boot the system after the software installation is complete.

Minimum System Requirements- Desktop or Laptop PC with Windows 98, 98SE, ME, 2000, NT4 or XP

operating system- 32 MB RAM- 50 MB Hard Drive free space- HotSync software with cradle connected to PC

PowerPoint Icon

Presenter-to-Go provides this button icon on your toolbar

1. Complete your PowerPoint presentation as you

normally would

2. Click on the Presenter-to-Go icon and the Presenter-

to-Go Creator will appear

3. Click on the Create button

4. The document name has been taken from the

PowerPoint file name. You can change it if you wish.

5. Simply press to create your PowerPoint

presentation (we will discuss appending presentations

later). The Presenter Desktop will appear.

Creating PowerPoint Presentations in Windows

You should see the name of the presentation you created in the “Presentations” list

AND

The user name of only one person whose CLIÉ you will HotSync to.

Simply press “Transfer” to prepare your presentation for download to your CLIÉ during the next HotSync.

Windows PC Program Functions

Transfer: Prepares your mobile presentation for download to your CLIÉ during the next HotSync.

Install App: Installs the Presenter-to-Go and MARGI Mirror Palm software onto your CLIÉ handheld.

View: Allows you to preview thumbnails of your presentation on your PC.

Delete: Allows you to delete the selected presentation.

Sync for Lets you select which users get the “Queued” presentations on that user’s next HotSync. If these only one user is registered on the CLIÉ, then that user name is automatically placed in the users: “Sync. For these Users” list. You are also able to select the destination for your downloaded

presentation, either the handheld’s memory or a storage device connected to the handheld, while it is Synced.

Archive List: List of all presentations that have been previously transferred to the HotSync bin.

Help: Opens the Help document to understand requirements of this dialog box.

About: Gives you the version number of the Presenter-to-Go PC software you are using and provides an opportunity to register your Presenter-to-Go MS Card online.

Close: Closes the Application.

If the user has the HotSync software and a Cradle installed on the PC, then HotSync is all that is required to move all of the presentations selected into the handheld.

Creating Presentations From Windows Applications

Once the Presenter-to-Go software is installed, you will find that you now have a printer called “Presenter-to-Go” as shown on the left.

When you print using this printer, you will be converting your file into a document name taken from the application that will show up in the previously introduced Presenter Creator.

If both exist, you must change both the Page Setup AND Printer Properties to LANDSCAPE format to obtain proper aspect. A warning dialog box to the effect will appear if you are not in landscape mode.

Presenter-to-Go Windows Append Feature

One of the great features of Presenter-to-Go is the ability to create a presentation (even without PowerPoint) from combinations of any Windows printable applications including Word, Excel, Paint, HTML (web pages), etc. This is done by opening each application and using the Presenter-to-Go print driver (in landscape mode), and combining them with existing presentations using the “Append” function. Once all the desired material is collected into one presentation, it is then easily re-organized using the “drag and drop”function on the handheld.

Creating Mobile Presentations on a Mac

Now you will learn how to create a mobile presentation from your Macintosh

Presenter-to-Go presentations can be created directly from within Microsoft PowerPoint or from

any printable PC Application.

Mac Setup

Mac PC Creation Software InstallationImportant Notice: Close all applications prior to running SETUP.

Double-click on the Presenter-to-Go Install icon on the Presenter-to-Go CD.

Double-click on the Presenter-to-Go CD icon.

Open the “PTG Handheld Applications” directory.

Double-click each of the PRC files to open them with the Palm Desktop Install tool.

HotSync to transfer the Presenter-to-Go and MARGI Mirror Palm software as well as

the Presenter-to-Go Quickstart Tutorial mobile presentation.

Re-boot the system after the software installation is complete.

Minimum System Requirements- Macintosh Desktop or Laptop PC with OS 8.5 -> 9.2- 32 MB RAM- 50 MB Hard Drive free space- HotSync software with cradle connected to PC

Append Pages Allows you to append the current mobile presentation to one from the to existing “Presentations” list. Presentations:

Install: Queues selected presentations into the queue for the next HotSync operation into your Visor.

List of Lets you select which users get the “Queued” presentations on that user’s next Available HotSync. If only one user is registered on the handheld, then that user name is Users: automatically placed in the “Install For:” list.

Archive: Retains a list of all presentations that have been previously queued to the HotSync bin.

Dither: When selected, creates smoother gradients.

If the user has the HotSync software and a Cradle installed on the computer, then HotSync is all that is required to move all of the presentations selected into the handheld.
