JIS sends messages to the SCOMIS docket when a protection-type order is recorded for a case in JIS.

Proceeding Docket CodesDocket Screen

Proceeding Docket Codes are counted in caseload statistics and many will also result in a change in case management status. The Statistical Reporting Manual and the Proceeding Docket Codes section of the SCOMIS Codes Manual are good references.

Charge descriptions come from the SCOMIS law table that is maintained by AOC.

PCN number is used to report the results of the case to WSP. Enter the PCN number as soon as possible in the life of the case .

Result Codes are used to record the outcome of each primary charge.

Sentence information is transmitted to the WSP and a WASIS Disposition Transfer Report is generated. This screen also shows status of Felony Conviction Reporting to the Secretary of State (OSOS).

SCOMIS searches only one case type in one county.

The Index for a case type lists SCOMIS litigant names in active and archived cases.

SCOMIS Judgment Cases

RCW 36.23.030(5)

A separate case type (S9) linked to an originating case

Contains only a Names and Docket sections

Originating Case litigants become the Judgment Case debtor (losing party) and creditor (prevailing party)

Multiple originating case litigants may mean multiple judgment cases for one originating case

Status is recorded when judgment is closed

Change – Execution or Find - Judgment (lists judgment cases for the originating case, can select the use Change sub-command)

Minute Entries

Summary entries can be done on the Docket using a CHMIN or TRMIN docket code and up to 7 continuation lines.

Detailed entries are sometimes done outside of SCOMIS using a local word processing program and downloaded calendar data. "Auto text" features and macros make the recording process more efficient.

TrackingPending Decisions

Pending Decision Sub-Docket Codes are entered below a proceeding held entry.

A Pending Decisions Report can be prepared.

The pending decision entry should be deleted after the decision is rendered and recorded in the Docket.

Resolution & Completion

Resolution = a case is "tried, settled, or otherwise concluded" and a judicial decision is rendered.

Resolutions are grouped into pre-trial and post-trial categories.

Completion = dispositional documents filed with the clerk.

Resolution and completion may be recorded consecutively or concurrently.
