Rock Creek Water Quality
• Total solidsTotal solids• Includes materials dissolved in the water as well
as materials suspended in the water.• Could include soil particles, animal and industrial
waste.• If the water clarity is too high the life form can
be dramatically affected.• IF water clarity is reduced the rate of
photosynthesis is also reduced.• Oxygen levels are lower as the particles absorb
more energy and the temperature of the water increases.
• Turbidity• When solid particles are added to the aquatic
environment, the amount of sun light reaching plants is reduced.
• The measure of light- scattering solids in the water is turbidity.
• Solids causing turbidity can come from natural run off or from human-related sources.
• An increase in turbidity can lead to higher water temperature and lower levels of oxygen.
Turbidity Is the cloudiness of the water. Can come from human related resources. If there is a lot of turbidity it can effect the
temperature and the D.O in the water. Our test results were pretty good.
Total Solids Is particles dissolved in the water as well as particles
suspended in the water. Can include soil particles and industrial or human
waste. IF water clarity is reduced the rate of photosynthesis is
also reduced. Our test results were bad and off the charts.
On the next slide it shows the totals of Parma’s total solids and turbidity compared to
Twin Falls. From the results, it shows that Parma has a higher turbidity level than Twin
Falls. Twin Falls, although, has a greater total solids level than Parma.

We have concluded that the high level of total solids effect life in the stream because if there is a high level that means that it keeps sun from reaching the plants therefore it effects life form dramatically the temperature goes up and the D.O goes down. The Parma had a lower level of total solids compared to Rock Creek. Our test result were bad and off the chart.
Ripples on the water,The soft patter of the rain,
The trees that totter,In the wind that blows insane.
Teens that stand huddled together,From Mrs. Dodd’s room period one.Holding the umbrella it’s light as a
feather. Then some one shouts we’re done.
The bus ride back to school so bumpy and long,
Stumbling out and racing across the lawn.Opening the door of room A33 Mrs. Dodds
says“Boy was I wrong.”
\Rock Creek looks pretty bad at first site, but once you walk around it only needs to be taken care of. The river is very lush with trees, bushes, and grass. It was freezing outside when we went and very, very rainy. It was also really windy the whole time we were there. Most parts of the grass were seeping with mud puddles. The water was gross looking and not very clean in some aspects. Although in other tests the water was good. If they had people taking good care of it, I’m sure more people would go down there and enjoy it. I wish it wasn’t so rainy when we went that day, And more Students would have enjoyed it better. Next year you should plan it on a day with better weather. The field tr5ip seemed to take forever, but once we were done it ended up being a lot of fun.
