Four Way action on Gut Health

New Zealand's own superfruit, the kiwifruit, which has been clinicallyproven to support gut health by improving regularity and other longterm digestive health benefits.

Actazin is a unique product as it offers a combination of Four of the keyelements essential for good digestion --

St d di d Ki i E (SKE) Standardized Kiwi Enzymes (SKE), Prebiotics Fiber Polyphenolics (phytonutrients and antioxidants)

which are all derived from one natural ingredient; the New Zealandgreen kiwifruit.

Actazin™ provides all four of these components, and promotes a mild softeningp p p gof the stool in a gentle and sustained manner. Actazin™ has a “normalizing” effecton the bowel, so it can be used long term and will continue to gently support motilitywithout over-stimulation.Even at high doses, it does not cause diarrhea, urgency or cramping. Extensive toxicological and safety testing has shown that Actazin™ is extremelysafe for humans. It is not recommended for those with a known Kiwi allergy.

synergy from proven enzyme complex in Actazin, which very gentlystimulates motility through the bowel without causing any of the nastyside effects like spasms, cramping and diarrhea that are often

More than just Kiwifruit

The patented production process protects the bioactives in Kiwifruit and makes

More than just Kiwifruit

the complex of standardised enzymes, prebiotics, polyphenolics and fiber morebioavailable (more available for absorption into the body) than it would be,simply by just eating a whole kiwifruit.

While this Actazin product is made from kiwifruit, people are unlikely get thesame results from just eating the fruit.

A di t i ti t ld h t t i ifi t t f ki if itAccording to scientists, one would have to eat a significant amount of kiwifruitto get similar results.

It would not only just be inconvenient, but it could cause a raft of unpleasanty j , pside effects such as acid build up and an upset stomach.

Dysbiosis – “Out of Balance”Dysbiosis Out of Balance

When the intestines contain the balance of good and bad bacteria that isoptimal for good health, they are described as being in a state of symbiosis.

Abstract: Several foods have been reported to have anti-inflammatoryeffects, including kiwifruit. In this study the ability of natural water extractsof kiwifruit to reduce lipopolysaccharide from pathogenic bacteria; (LPS)-induced tumour necrosis factor (TNF)-α and interleukin (IL)-1β production

as e al ated in itro as a meas re of potential anti inflammator acti itwas evaluated in vitro as a measure of potential anti-inflammatory activity.Kiwifruit cultivars showed promising activity with human THP-1 monocytesand peripheral whole blood, although differential effects were seen inindividual donors.

These results provide supporting evidence for further studies that kiwifruitmay be useful in diets to help combat the inflammation underlying manychronic diseases associated with modern lifestyles.

key markers of gastrointestinal function.

2007).Authors: Shu Molan AL, Kruger MC, Drummond LN.

Abstract: The consumption of kiwifruit is associated with a number of health benefits related togastrointestinal function. These benefits are generally attributed to the high levels of vitamins, minerals, dietary fibre and bioactive phytochemicals present in kiwifruit. There is a need to, y p y pinvestigate the biological activities of specific fractions of kiwifruit on markers of gastrointestinalhealth.

Aqueous extracts of Kiwifruit and assessed for their ability to influence the growth of bothbeneficial and pathogenic bacteria under in vitro conditions. In addition the potential of ki ifr it to mod late the acti it of ß gl cosidase and ßIn addition, the potential of kiwifruit to modulate the activity of ß-glucosidase and ß-glucuronidase was investigated.

A series of in vitro experiments were conducted to evaluate both the antimicrobial and prebioticproperties, and intestinal bacterial enzyme activities of kiwifruit extracts. In addition extracts prepared from kiwifruit was able to promote the growth of beneficial lacticIn addition, extracts prepared from kiwifruit was able to promote the growth of beneficial lacticacid bacteria (LAB) especially at high concentrations and reduce the growth of Escherichia coli.

It was concluded that kiwifruit extract promotes antimicrobial and prebiotic activities whentested under in vitro conditions. Kiwifruit extract has also been shown to beneficially modulatethe intestinal bacterial

Abstract: The present study examined the effects of a kiwifruit extract on immuneresponse in BALB/c mice. The effects were investigated using cholera vaccine (11days duration) and diphtheria/tetanus toxoid-vaccine (29 days duration) modelsdays duration) and diphtheria/tetanus toxoid-vaccine (29 days duration) models.Mice were given either test (standard diet incorporated with kiwifruit extract) orcontrol diets ad libitum throughout the respective experimental periods. At the end, blood, spleen and intestinal fluids were collected for determination of cellproliferation, specific antibody responses, cytokine production, phagocytosis, and

t l kill ll ti itnatural-killer cell activity.

Kiwifruit extract significantly enhanced (p<0.05) specific intestinal mucosal andserum antibody responses to the vaccines and promoted interferon-gamma andnatural killer cell activities. The overall results of the present study demonstrate the ability of kiwifruit extract toenhance markers of innate and acquired immunity in the tested mouse model.
