ANESTHESIA CRISIS RESOURCE MANAGEMENT (ACRM)

Course Directors: Dr. David Bracco Dr. Angelina GuzzoLocation: McGill Medical Simulation Centre 3575, avenue du Parc, Montréal, QCTime: 12:30-17:00 hrs

Simulation is becoming increasingly integrated into all levels of medical education. The American Board of Anesthesiology has included simulation as a Maintenance-of-Certification requirement (once per 10 years), and simulation will soon be incorporated into the Royal College certification process. Come and experience the future of medical education (which is rapidly becoming the present!). Our state-of-the-art facility and experienced staff and instructors will ensure you get the most benefit from this immersive experience...and it’s much more exciting than sitting through a lecture!

The participants should be practicing anesthesiologists who want to review and improve their skills in addressing critical situations which can occur in their daily practice. The course will include a brief discussion of the principles of teamwork, but most of the course time will be spent participating in and observing simulated clinical situations. Participants’ responses to these simulated events will be recorded and then reviewed by the class.

Although the clinical scenarios are meant to be somewhat stressful, they should be representative of situations which could potentially arise in any practice setting. The atmosphere is meant to be cooperative and constructive, rather than critical or embarrassing.

Maximum number of participants: 6Fee: $450
