Welcome President of BVGG (Belgian Greenroofs Association)
Member of board of EFB (European Federation of Greenroof Associations) Managing Director Opti-water Systems
Cities of the future
1. Greenbuildings with lightweight system
2. Parking Decks (complete solution from waterproofing)
3. Vertical Greenery (easy lightweight system)
4. Anti heat-flux Roofs (new)
5. Public Parks : Water retention system for irrigated fields-save up 40-60% water
Urban Heat Island Effect up to +3°C

substrate
What is the substrate?
A unique hydrophilic material that
is transforming the construction of
green roofs, vertical walls and soft
urban landscapes.
Due to the physical, internal
structure of VYDRO® substrate,
water molecules can easily enter
its cells but cannot easily exit it.
This means that water is stored in
the VYDRO® matrix, where it can
be readily accessed by plant roots.

2.Parking decks
Parking decks : • water proofing with drain layer
• terraces and ways on top of it
•Drain sheet resistant up to 30 tonnes/m²
Belgium-Antwerp Reinforced grass
Parking decks
• On the water proofing a root-barrier and drain sheet has been placed.
PE-reinforcement for roads on parking decks
2.Parking decks: private gardens and parking places on underground parking 3000m²
3. Vertical greenery /Living walls
Our living walls are constructed that provide an additional growing medium between a geotextile and a coccus-layer into which vegetation can actually be planted,
Living walls provide environmental benefit in the form of thermal insulation , cooling benefit to the building, and noise attenuation. Additionally it helps to absorb health- damaging fine dust ,
3.vertical walls Vertical gardens on external fences
providing aesthetic benefits.

3. Details of the metal structure to improve better performance against wind stress
Prefabricated matts with drip lines
Coconut mats in rolls are far more easier to install

4.Cooling roofs=anti-heatflux roofs
Cool roofs are a form of roof where the materials used are deliberately selected for their high solar absorption and high thermal performances. They absorb, and consequently store, less solar energy during the day and thus are not major emitters of heat into the urban atmosphere at night,

5. Public Parks/Residential gardens –
save up 50-60% water Step 1 Level the base gound
Step 2 Unroll the Urbanscape roll and cut it off in a way that it will fully cover entire area.
Residential areas – easy set up
Step 3 Cover Urbanscape roll with selected amount of soil cover an level the ground
Step 4 Unroll grass mat or seed a gras on your own.
Abu Dhabi – evaluation of different plant species
Controlled water stress on plants. The water
savings of at least 25% are easily achieved
and the plants performance is improved.
Searching for
• Planning by Goverment of more implantation of greenroofs in cities for better climate, cooling roofs for saving energy to cool down buildings
• Coorporation with local university to evaluate monitoring of water by shutdown watersupply in public parks/ev.using treated grey water
• Offering full support , training for landscapers, contractors and architects
• Long term vision
