Finding:

80% of worker’s wives in Welspun Gram are illiterate

Aim:

To assist in providing basic education to women

Implementation:

Leveraged the Ladies Club at Anjar to sponsor “The Adult Literacy Program”

Jan Shikshan Sanstha, an NGO , provided study material & learning module

Classes conducted for 2hrs by volunteers from Ladies Club, thrice a week

Regular Batch of 15 participants

Transformation:

• Willingness to Learn has increased

• High degree of enrollment of children for Anganwadi.

• All students of Anganwadi enrolled into primary schools

Anando Programme with light of Life Trust Aim: quality education and wholistic development of 65 rural/tribal children from Salav – Sanjay Nagar Approach: Conducted needs assessment study to gauge the need of the community Findings: intervention for quality education is required Implementation: Partnered with Light of Life Trust NGO – project being implemented with rural and tribal children.

Launched Quality Education Programme with Naandi Foundation Aim: Quality education project for three municipal corporation schools children from Mumbai Implementation: Partnered with Naandi Foundation, Project reach out is 700 children from 6 Mumbai Municipal Schools.

Vocational Training Centre in 3 villages in Anjar in partnership

with Gujarat Government under “ Mission Mangalam” scheme.

Objective:

vocational training to rural women

Process:

One Month training on cutting and stitching by Welspun

Result:

• 250 women are trained under this scheme. All women are engaged in

production work.

• Enhanced self esteem

• Increased confidence

• Increased per family economic standard

Approximately 700 women will be covered from these villages and

the same project will be replicated in other potential villages

along with Gujarat Government.

Welspun organized a free Health Camp at Jolwa Primary School, Jolwa.

The Camp was inaugurated by Mr. Sulemanbhai,

Sarpanch ,Jolwa village, Mr. Ghanshyambhai, sarpanch of Vadadala village along with other Welspun volunteers and participants present on the occasion.

The camp was first of its kind in the locality in

which Doctors from leading hospital BHARUCH GLOBAL HOSPITAL, BHARUCH volunteered to offer their medical expertise and service.

The event was welcomed by the local

villagers. Around 170 Adults, Mother & Child from village were screened and diagnosed for various health ailments.

Salaam Bombay Foundation • Initiated anti tobacco program in Murud school.

• To impart information and create awareness about

the ill effects of tobacco to the participants through active teacher participation.
