Specialty of Bangladeshi Cuisine

Bangladeshi cuisine is similar to that of India. Staple food of Bangladesh is rice, and Chapati and curry are commonly eaten as well. Curry consists of multiple ingredients such as fish, chicken, beef, mutton and vegetables. Fish is the most popular source of proteins. Bangladeshi food is milder in taste than Indian food. Pork is forbidden due to the Islamic beliefs and other meats

must also be processed in certain ways.

New Year's Cuisine, "Panta Ilish"Panta Ilish consists of hardened rice drowned in soup, fried Ilish (national fish of Bangladesh),

dried fish, pickles, beans, blue pepper and onions. It is served on Bangladeshi New Year's (April 14th) celebration.

Sweet "Chai"Bangladeshi people love sweet flavor. Bangladeshi Chai consists of dark tea, sugar, milk and condensed milk. There are many Chai stands alongside the streets in Bangladesh, where the

local people enjoy the sweet Chai on daily basis.

"Kachi Biryani"Biryani is a typical traditional food originated in Hyderabad (cosmopolitan city of southern India)

when the Mughal empire ruled the region in the 16th to 19th century. The food consists of mutton and rice and it is commonly eaten at celebrations

It is manifested in various forms, including music, dance and drama; arts and crafts; folklore and folktales; literature, philosophy, fairs and festivals as well as in a distinct cuisine and culinary tradition. The indigenous communities of Bangladesh have their own culture and tradition full of colorful diversity.

The advent of Bengali New Year is gaily observed throughout the country.

Independence Day

March 26 is the day of Independence of Bangladesh. It is the biggest state festival.

21st Feb, the National Mourning Day and World Mother Language Day

21 February is observed throughout the country to pay respect.

Eid-e-Miladunnabi

Eid-e-Miladunnabi is the birth and death day of Prophet Muhammad (s).

Eid-ul-Fitr

The biggest Muslim festival observed throughout the world. This is held on the day following the Ramadan or the month of fasting.

Eid-ul-Azha

Second biggest festival of the Muslims. It is held marking the Hajj in Mecca on the 10th Zilhaj, the lunar month.
