Medical Consulting System www.monasystem.huThe Mona System is a telecommunication system which we would like to introduce the public health consultation system using the computer network. The system can be reached on the www.monasystem.hu website. The system was established in1992, since then it has been developed continuously.

Its success can be demonstrated by the first prizesIn The Investigators World Cup which the system has beenRewarded In four consecutive years. Considering data protectionit satisfies the United States safety requirements.

Users of the MONA-System in HUNGARY

Every doctor, hospital and outpatient department can connect to the system after theyhave registered on the MONA homepage and a minimal rental has been paid. There isno connection fee. At the moment there are more consultation centers in Hungary whosestaff provide continuous feed back on the consultation subject. One part of these centersare regional ones dealing with nervous surgery, heart surgery, stroke cases and the othersare national institute treating toxicological, porphyrial cases. Present day the cardiologyconsultations have already been sponsored by the Social Insurance Institute in Hungary.

To work the system requires a personal computer, internet access and digital instruments withcomputer connection. You can transmit your consultation subject to the consultant in theconsultation center or to any doctor within the system so its users can consult their cases witheach other as well.

From practical point of view the ECG watch is one of the most useful instrument in the system.It can make one channel lead supplemented with 15 minutes Holter function. The patient canstart the Holter registration by pushing a buttom at the beginning of their arrhytmia or itssymptoms. All the information will be stored on the watch can be sent to the computer andforwarded to the consultant. To emregency cases we have developed an alarm function con-nected to a special mobile phone. Present day only the Siemens C35i equiped with this function.After connecting the mobile and the watch, you can transmit your ECG strip to your consultantimmediately. To send the ECG strip to the right person we have programmed the doctor’s andthe patient’s data in to the memory of the watch in advance. Using the system is simple, non-invasiv, sponsored by the Social Insurance Institute, it can substitute for loop recorder.

By the means we can provide high level medical treatment to the people who sufferscardiovascular, diabetological illnesses, using these instruments in their home.

Moreover the MONA system can give backup information about chemists, diplomacy help,embassadors addresses abroad and so on. This information can be accessed by anybody onthe website of the MONA system. (This part works only in Hungary at the moment.)

The system works on code-password method. Present day you can select fromthese languages.

After the registration you enter the system and can choose from severalpossibilities on the screen. The password and the code are given by the MONA.

If you click on the personal data icon you can change your password and can repairall of your data except your code.

The system contains all the registered doctor’s code, which can be easilysearched usingthe user search icon in this way. Here you can find all of their data.

Under the finished consultations icon, you can find all of your consultation subjects.

The unfinished consultation contains those medical reports which are waiting for your replay.

If you would like to transmit a consultation subject or replay to them you can click on the send consultation icon, wright the proper code and attache the file. The consultant will be informed about the arrival of the subject in email or in urgent cases in SMS. The consultant than enter the system and study the consultation subject to reply to it.

Our first medical repot took place in Florida. The patient was bitten unnoticed by a spider or a snake while he was mowering the lawn. His symptoms started 15 minutes later with shivering and nausea. His left leg got swollen 3 hours later, and some bulls appeared next day. Meantime the patient had come home to Hungary and went to the emergency department where he was examined. 24. The doctor on duty transmitted his consultation subject to Gábor Zacher at the National Institute of Toxicology. Following his instuments we managed to recover the patient.

Aortic DissectionAortic Dissection

The second case happened in Nyíregyhaza, Hungary. The patient suffering from chest pain was taken by the ambulance service to the Emergency department. A type aortic dissection was diagnosed by CT which demanded urgent operation. The consultation subject was transmitted by MONA to the Cardiology Clinic in Debrecen. Using the system the surgeons were able to study the pictures before the patient arrived, giving him grater chance to survive the operation. The system is used by several countries as well.

Ukrainen Consultation

Numerous children with hare-lip have been carried by the ambulance service from Munkács in Ukraine to be operated at the Medical University of Pécs in Hungary.

To support the patient transport between Ukraine and Hungary the system have been completed with a special ambulance car equiped with a telecommunication unit. It was generously donated by the US embassador.

The MONA was used with success on the Covered Field Athletic World Championship in Budapest in 2004. With the help of the system the injured sportspeople's treatment were harmonized with the suggestions of their national sport hospital.

In disasters the system can provide useful help. For example it helped to identify the victims of the Tsunami and supplemented the local emergency treatment on the scene as well.

According to our experience the MONA system can satisfy all the demands of every country health consultation. We are hope using the system will be well-spreaded worldwide in the future by the means it provides higher level medical treatment to the patients in the world.
