Purpose of Presentation

● The aim of this presentattion is to fill the gap between online resouces, journals and major textbooks, using ‘clear, concise, and usage-based accounts of important topics in cloud computing, together with, where necessary, explanations of its theroy and technology ’.

● The aim is for a ‘wide audience’, and the presentation title almost exempts it from being comprehensive. The author asks for feedback to improve future versions.

● This " Core topics in Cloud Computing" is a work in progress. Each of the Topic will be covered in detail in this presentation. Suggestions/comments may be sent to me at [email protected]

Researching For Results

Finding it out on the web

Page 26: Presentation List 2011

Importance of Search Skills

● One of the many skills identified in teaching process view is the ability to locate pertinent and credible information and resources on the Web.

● A key prerequisite to developing that skill is the expert use of Web search engines like Google.

● Most of our students (and many of us) have probably mastered the basics, but in a busy world where few have time to peruse more than 2-3 pages of search results, we need to become more strategic inquisitors.

● This presentation/workshop teaches how to become an expert web searcher
