Start thinking about what you would like to be and what you are aiming for.

Try to throw more challenges from where you can gain more knowledge &

skills.

Do what you enjoy and set your career goal as early as possible.

Be specific and concise about your goal.

As an example I would like to share some of experience about starting

networking career.

Study in CIT Started at IUT in January 2000 & finished in 2003

Finished MSc from UTS in Networking & Got a job as Network support in

2005

Started Job as Network Engineer at GL Trade in early 2006

Changed Job as IP Network Engineer at Singtel Optus in late 2006

Became Senior Network Engineer at Symbio Networks in 2008

Now Senior Solution Designer at Telstra since November 2010

Career: Some TIPs

Industry certifications are very popular these days such as CCNA, CCNP,

CCIE, CCSP, CCDA,CCDP, MCSE, CCSA, CCSE, Linux, Vmware, Java,

.Net, PMP certifications.

Try to get some certification while you are finishing your BSc Hons degree if

you are planning to come to Australia.

Good Results and Certifications will increase your chance to get an Interview.But to get the job you have to sell yourself.

Prepare a resume based on the current trends in the job market. A good

looking smart resume increases your chance to get the job by 10-30%.

Try to do more presentations while you are doing different projects. Clear and

effective communication is a must for getting any job. So far Ive obtained the following certifications

CCNA, CCDA, CCDP, CCNP, CCIP, CCIE (Written), MCSE, Dip. In

Project Management.

Final Word

Please dont memorise everything, instead try to understand the

application of the technologies you are learning through your

course.

Get your hands dirty with different technologies through

assignments or project work. Get involved in as many projects you can. Projects may be

small or big.

Start now about working for your. Dont think about starting

tomorrow or in future.

Get help or suggestion from Teachers and Senior Sudents.
