Theme for 2013

The CHS spirit (described as ‘Spirit Ablaze’) has given the school and its graduates a most impressive list of accomplishments, throughout these past 100 years.

This nostalgic travel through 100 years, along with what was happening in the country at that time, was the focal point of the February 2013 Centennial Celebration and will also be the theme of the special Centennial coffee table book.

Theme for 2013

2013’s Centennial Celebration took us back to the past to bring us to where we are today.

We believe the perfect way to cap the celebration in 2014 is to show what is happening to the alumni and the school today that will bring us to the future (hopefully to the next 100 years).

Page 4: Presentation for February 2014 Centennial Celebration

For 2014, we want to concretize the end benefit of ‘Spirit Ablaze.’ So, what is the result of being on fire?

How will theme translate into theclass presentations for 2014 CHS Centennial Finale?

Each participating class will choose ONE dominant ‘Spirt Ablaze’that embodies its class’ spirit or is close to their hearts.

It can be the fruit of the spirit (love, peace, joy, patience, kindness, goodness, etc.) or some other spirit: the spirit of achievement, the spirit of thanksgiving,

the spirit of wonder, the spirit of excellence, the spirit of adventure, etc.

A GRAND OPENINGIntro to the Theme

THE STAGE IS DARK. A VOICE IS SUDDENLY HEARD. AS THE ANNOUNCER SPEAKS, A PRESENTATION (LIKE A MIME) APPEARS, SHOWING SYMBOLS FOR CERTAIN KEYWORDS.

There is a light in this world.

A SPIRIT that comes only from the Most High. A SPIRIT that has guided our Alma Mater,

the College of the Holy Spirit, all through these 100 years.

CHS

A GRAND OPENINGIntro to the Theme

A SPIRIT that has been passed on to each and every student, graduate and alumni of CHS.

Each class that has walked the corridors of this school has been blessed with this SPIRIT… an unquenchable fire that inspires, encourages, and moves each class to do their best

and to leave the world better and brighter than when they found it.

MIME PERFORMERS LEAVE STAGE TO MAKE WAY FOR ...

Passing of the Torch

Inspired by the 100 scholars, we will have a ceremony, prior to the finale of the presentation where we will pass the torch (the Spirit Ablaze) to the future CHS alumni. And we will use the 100 scholars to represent this new generation of future ‘leaders, movers and shakers’.

THE LEGACY OF THE SPIRIT

AN EVEN GRANDER CLOSING

Since this homecoming is the finale to the centennial year, the ending will be celebratory, colorful and joyful. From different parts of the auditorium, the jubilarians will go onstage as they sing a song.

Spirit Ablaze!

Hallelujah!AN EVEN GRANDER CLOSING

Two numbers will be performed. The final song will be Handel’s ‘Hallelujah.’ towards the end of the number there will be people who will go upstage holding what look like poles. Inspired by the Mandela sculpture, the poles will form a shape. The shape that will be formed is the Holy Spirit.
