Application of ACMV System
Central Air Conditioning System 1- Water-cooled chiller 2- Cooling tower 3- Air Handling Unit/Fan coil unit Mechanical Ventilation System 1- Kitchen Exhaust ventilation 2- Plant room ventilation

Central Air Conditioning SystemChilled water chillers are used to produce chilled water to AHU and FCU which cool the air in its respective space(s), and then the chilled water is re-circulated back to the chiller to be cooled again.

Indoor conditions of AC space for comfort cooling
Design dry bulb temperature 23 ° C – 26 °CMin dry bulb temperature 22 ° CDesign relative humidity 55 %– 70 %Air movement 0.15m/s – 0.50m/sMax air movement 0.7 m/s

How is air circulation in the AC space

Typical installation of Equipments
AHU installation- Installation
involved with piping, ducting & control wiring.
![Page 9: Presentation for acmv](https://reader031.vdocuments.site/reader031/viewer/2022012311/552133c74979597a2f8b5310/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
Typical installation of Equipments
Chilled water pump installation
- Pump installation involved with inertia block, electrical power supply, etc.
![Page 10: Presentation for acmv](https://reader031.vdocuments.site/reader031/viewer/2022012311/552133c74979597a2f8b5310/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
Problem encountered
Insufficient Air Flow
High friction loss=Less CFM(volume) When less air is
delivered, the system has to run longer to achieve the desired comfort level.
![Page 11: Presentation for acmv](https://reader031.vdocuments.site/reader031/viewer/2022012311/552133c74979597a2f8b5310/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
Problem encountered
Lower cost and ease of installation have made flex quite popular particularly.
SS 553- (ACMV) have revised & restricted maximum flexible duct length from 4meter to 2 meter.

Problem encountered
Generating Noise from Equipment and fittings
- AHU return inlet is too close to the wall.
- Required width 750 mm width; instead , only 550 mm.
Due to carelessly installation, lack of supervising & poor coordination.
550

Problem encountered
This caused two acoustical problems: unstable fan operation leading to surge and rumble, direct exposure of inlet noise to the mechanical room wall.

comfort, there will be no need for
Buildings…
