EURONET 50/50 MAX
Program: Intelligent Energy – Europe (IEE)
Duration: 3 years (April 18 2013 – April 17 2016)
Budget: 1.590.479 €
Partners: 16 partners from 13 countries
KEY OBJECTIVE:• To mobilise energy saving potentials in school buildings (and other public
buildings) through changing everyday behaviour of pupils, students, teachers, and other building users, based on 50/50 methodology.
• What is 50/50 methodology?
o 50 % of energy savings achieved from the energy efficiency measures taken by the pupils and teachers are returned to school through financial pay-out.
o 50 % will be a net saving of municipality or other public authority that pays school‘s energy bills.
EVERYBODY WINS!The school teaches pupils how to save energy by changing their behaviour and gets additional financial resources, the local authority has lower energy costs and the local community gets cleaner local environment.
THE BEGINNIG OF 50/50 CONCEPT50/50 methodology was first used in the EURONET 50/50 project (2009-2012). 58 schools have been involved implementing 50/50 methodology and have achieved impressive results (2011):
• 6900 pupils, teachers, caretakers and 43 city councils working together tackling the climate change.
• 40 schools (70%!) have achieved energy savings!• 339 t less of greenhouse gases emitted into the atmosphere!• More than 1.100 MWh not used!• 2.100 € saved with pupils behaviour changes per school!
Very successful EURONET 50/50 project won European Sustainable Energy Award 2013, thus continuing and upgrading to EURONET 50/50 MAX!
UPGRADING TO EURONET 50/50 MAX
Euronet 50/50 MAX builds upon the experiences and results of first Euronet 50/50 project, but with a few key upgrades:
• Adapt and update the tools to implement 50/50 methodology in secondary schools and also in non-educational public buildings.
• Strategic roll-out: achieving uptake of 50 /50 methodology in local strategies, educational strategies, regional plans and relevant national action plans.
• Building an European network of 50/50 schools, with the aim to foster exchange of experiences and best practices across borders – and to inspire new schools to uptake 50/50 concept!

EURONET 50/50 MAX IN SLOVENIA• 30 primary schools and 3 non-educational public buildings are involved in
Euronet 50/50 MAX project in Slovenia.
• At the end of 2014 schools obtained an average energy saving of 15 979 kWh per school,
• which is 1 587 EUR per school,
• and 4,9 tons less of greenhouse gases emitted into the atmosphere.
• 50/50 methodology has already been included in 7 local Sustainable Energy Action Plans (SEAP).
