Abengoa has been present in Morocco since 1977 with offices in Rabat and Casablanca. Major large-scale projects in the region have been executed, including the world’s first ISCC

(Integrated Solar Combined Cycle) plant located in Ain Beni Mathar, with a total installed capacity of 472MW.

• Abener Energia SA built the power station in 2010, while Abengoa Solar designed the integrated 20 MW solar park, which uses parabolic trough collectors

• Abengoa has recently extended its existing contract to operate and maintain Ain Beni Mathar for another five years.


Abengoa in Morocco


Abengoa is currently constructing a desalination plant in Agadir, Morocco that will supply 100,000 m3/day of drinking water to more than 500,000 people in the region. • It is the first project that Morocco has developed under a public-private partnership (PPP)

system. • Financing has been arranged with a consortium of local banks led by Banque Marocaine du

Commerce Extérieur (BMCE), ensuring a high degree of integration and participation with the local business and financial sectors.

Abengoa has been involved in the engineering, design, construction and maintenance of various transmission lines in Morocco.

• HV transmission lines, such as a 210 km-long power located in the northern part of Morocco.

• MV/LV lines for Rural Electrification for the Electricity National Office (Office National d'Électricité – ONE), electrifying 449 towns, with 600 Km Medium Voltage (MV), 1,585 Km Low Voltage (LV) and 344 transformation centers.
