Introduction

As it is known, each time tense has different

“categories” which have different uses.

The future tense is one of them. Here we can

find simple future, future progressive, future

perfect and even the present progressive.

Here you will find definitions and examples on

how to use this part of the future tense.

Objective

The aim of this presentation is to explain how we can use the present progressive to express ourselves in future.

Examples and an activity will be provided in order to extend the explanation of this part of the future tense.

The present progressive is used when an action is

happening at the moment of speaking.

I am watching TV in my bedroom.

However, if you add a word for time (in future) at

the end of the sentence, the meaning changes.

I am watching TV in my bedroom tomorrow night.

This is what we call present progressive in the

future.

You can use the present progressive to talk about a future action or event that has

already been arranged.

My parents are leaving town tomorrow

They are not going out this weekend.
