Prescribed Car Maintenance Schedule
Every vehicle needs regular maintenance to prevent major problems. Scheduled car
maintenance keeps small issues from developing into bigger ones. It is vital to keep a car
running on the road properly.
The small things a car owner does can add years to the lifespan of their vehicle and save on
repair costs. There are procedures and checks that the car needs at varying intervals.
Tire condition and pressure Any uneven wear,
bulges, cuts or nails should be checked. If everything
seems right, the tire pressure would need
inspection. The proper tire pressure is indicated in
the car’s doorjamb or manual.
Lights – Cleaning the lights is essential. Car owners
should make sure all lights such as headlights, brake
lights, turn signals and emergency flashers function
properly.
Monthly car maintenance
Battery and cables – The connections should
not show any signs of corrosion or leaking. They
need to have it tested and replaced if
necessary.
Engine belts – If the engine belts are showing
signs of wear such as pilling, cracking or fraying,
a replacement is necessary.
Exhaust – Car owners should check for signs of
damage or broken supports. Exhaust leaks can
be very dangerous.
Oil and filter – The oil and filter should be
changed every three months or every 3, 000
mile drive.
Every three months
Chassis lubrication – Checking the chassis lubrication is necessary, especially if the
vehicle is old. Steering and suspension may need periodic lubrication.
Polish – Apart from wiping and washing the car, car polishing at least twice a year will
protect and maintain the exterior of the car.
Wiper blades – The average life expectancy of wiper blades is six to 12 months. A
replacement is essential before severe weather sets in.
Every six months

replace it annually.

1000 mile drive.
