Objectives: Enable citizens to lead healthy, active and independent lives while ageing Improve the sustainability and efficiency of social and health care systems Boost the market competitiveness for innovative products and services; Increase the average healthy lifespan by two years by 2020.
Features: 3 pillars (prevention, screening and early diagnosis; care and cure; active
ageing and independent living) and 6 Action Groups. Reference Sites as examples and best practices for active and healthy
ageing. Online marketplace where stakeholders can exchange information and
find possible partners.

Status of Switzerland via-a-vis Horizon 2020 and AAL
Situation as of January 2017:
• Switzerland has now the status of a fully «Associated country» for Horizon
2020
• Full membership of Switzerland in AAL
• EC top-up funding
• Swiss funding for AAL Call 2017 is 2 Mio € + EU funding = approx. 4 Mio €

Participation and Swiss national funding rules 2017
• Consortium must include at least 3 eligible organizations from at least 3 different AAL partner States
• At least one business / SME partner and one end-user organization• Eligible organizations for Switzerland: Universities / Universities of Applied Sciences,
enterprises (SMEs and other business organizations) and end-user organizations• Publically funded research bodies are only eligible for funding if the consortium
includes at least one eligible Swiss business or end-user organization• Funding rates for Swiss project partners:
