Procedures = Effective Management
Procedure: What the teacher wants doneRoutine: What the students do automatically
The number one problem in the classroom is not discipline; it is
the lack of procedures and routines.
**Do not call a procedure a rule
Don’t know them
Have not been taught
Have not practiced them
Classroom procedures are statements of students expectations necessary to participate successfully in classroom activities, to learn, and to function effectively in the school environment.
Classroom procedures tell a students how things operate in a classroom, thus reducing discipline problems.
Classroom procedures increase on-task time and reduce classroom disruptions.
Classroom procedures allow many different activities to take place efficiently during the school day, often several at the same time, with a minimum of wasted time and confusion.Pair/Share: Talk to a neighbor and tell them which reason is important to you.
