DescriptionThe new kid on the block is Containers. We will take a look at what containers actually are and where they become useful. And once you are excited and start running them how do you manage your containers? One of the options that has been there long before Microsoft Containers were born was using Docker. Microsoft works closely with the open source community to get the Docker experience ported to Windows and to make sure administrators will have a seamless experience whether they are using Docker on Linux or Windows. This session will be hands on with slides where needed.
DescriptionSince the introduction in SQL Server 2012 columnstore indexes have evolved quite a bit. But so far they didn’t live well together with traditional B-tree indexes. Come and learn how SQL 2016 bridges this gap and how you can now use both types of indexes together to optimize your data warehouse queries. We will investigate best practices on how to build and maintain columnstore indexes. How non-clustered indexes can further improve query performance and more.
