Nutrinity’s Guide to Making Stuff(for Profit)

Version 1.1 1/29/2013

Preface Eve meep , the best program for customized easy to use manufacturing costs that I have found

for the most part you can ignore anything other than the manufacturing tab http://sourceforge.net/projects/evemeep/

The de-facto character manager program which also has the handy bit of having all the items and all the BPOs with their optimal ME information http://evemon.battleclinic.com/index.php

Finding out what to make can be hard to do, this website gives you an idea on what to make and then you double check the numbers in evemeep http://www.eve-market-guide.com/manufacturing.php

Check out the wiki for blueprints to figure out what all the terms mean and general info http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Blueprint

Finding out what to make… for profit!

Have a general idea for what you want to make http://www.eve-market-guide.com/manufacturing.php can be very valuable to give you an idea as to what makes money, small items big items T1 , T2 you can search and have a list. Start by just clicking the search button and it will give you the ordered list of isk per hour profit (possibly)

Page 2: Preface - Webs · Web viewCompare that to an item that takes one hour to make and profit of only 150,000, with 24 made in a day the profit is over three and a half million compared

Side note: DON’T ASSUME YOU CAN MAKE IT CHEAPER THAN YOU CAN BUY IT!!!! If you are looking to just make items you use that is the wrong way of doing it, due to all sorts of crazy market things such as Tech cartel or rat dropped items don’t assume making an item is cheaper than buying it off market do your research.

We see in the above image that there are three separate items, a cruiser which was made popular by the T1 cruiser changes (one could have played the meta game to prepare for the huge demand for cruisers), a fighter bomber, and advanced mobile laboratory.

Off to Evemon with the three items to check the requirements to make said items. In Evemon open a generic plan or one you have already made and click the blueprint browser tab. This will not alter the plan unless you click the ‘add skills’ button on the lower right which is a great way to plan on how you can make certain BPOs, but be warned it does not include production efficiency.

Tyrfing requires Capital ship construction level III and has a really high perfect ME level, not that it is required on a BPO to have that insane ME but that does tell you the item has waste to start meaning you should probably have production efficiency 5 before attempting at serious profit on the item. Not exactly noob friendly for starting out. Also of note is the Manufacturing time per item, if you make one

Page 3: Preface - Webs · Web viewCompare that to an item that takes one hour to make and profit of only 150,000, with 24 made in a day the profit is over three and a half million compared

million isk on an item that takes 12 hours to make, so two items in 24 hours for a profit of two million isk. Compare that to an item that takes one hour to make and profit of only 150,000, with 24 made in a day the profit is over three and a half million compared to two.

Next we have the advanced Mobile laboratory which has perfect ME of 0! Meaning you can make this thing without worry about production efficiency as POS mods / items don’t have waste. This requires industry V which isn’t insane to get.

Page 4: Preface - Webs · Web viewCompare that to an item that takes one hour to make and profit of only 150,000, with 24 made in a day the profit is over three and a half million compared

Lastly the vexor, while it does have waste as per the crazy ME level it only requires industry I , which you should really have production efficiency 5 or there will be a good bit of waste, especially on a non-researched BPO.

In summary for the three items the Advanced Mobile Laboratory is a great starter item (other than bpo cost + material cost) the vexor is a nice item with production efficiency 5 and the tyrfing is a better long term make item due to capital construction III

EvemeepInstall evemeep

Open evemeep make sure your characters are in there, It isn’t super important but it helps

Click on the production button.

Make note, that without production efficiency 5 a lot of things will not make you profit. If you do not have prod efficency 5 make POS modules / POSes as they have no waste

All of the POS ECM modules do decently, small pulse / beam lasers, WEB / SCRAM / NEUT. If you read any POS setup guide they tell you not to use certain modules those modules may or may not sell so try and test the waters with doing a batch run based on blue print copies or by researching volume of items moved .

So let’s see how to make profit on energy neutrilizer battery.

Page 5: Preface - Webs · Web viewCompare that to an item that takes one hour to make and profit of only 150,000, with 24 made in a day the profit is over three and a half million compared

Select the blueprint from the list, then click add blueprint. I recommend doing one item at a time and figuring out what makes a profit then just make yourself a list of what to make. If you add more than one blueprint it starts to get crazy, unless you are making a shopping list I would not add more than one blueprint.

There is a lot of information on the screen now and I am going to try and go thru it bit by bit. First the settings.

Click the settings tab and select keep manual price on edit. At this point I would exit out of the program entirely and go back in to make sure the setting stuck. Re add the blueprint after confirming the settings.

Page 6: Preface - Webs · Web viewCompare that to an item that takes one hour to make and profit of only 150,000, with 24 made in a day the profit is over three and a half million compared

Make sure your char is selected and the skills are correct, with POS mods prod efficiency doesn’t matter, accounting is for sales. Getting all to 5 will shave off cost especially if it is not a POS mod.

Next part is the production tab, it lists the items needed to make the blueprint, also note there is a ‘resolve blueprint’ button. This means it will break down the ‘heavy energy neutralizer I’ into minerals assuming you have the BPO for the energy neutralizer you can make that too rather than buying off market, which is a good idea for a lot of the ECM modules. Let me know and I can get you a bunch since you won’t find researched BPOs for anything reasonable.

So now to fill in those prices,

Search or use the market to look up the prices, the lowest sellers price, the stuff EVE MEEP pulls might be accurate but I would much rather put in the prices and fudge a bit, which I will show later, for now I will put in the price rounded up a bit. Jita is the defacto buy market so I would fly there and check the

Page 7: Preface - Webs · Web viewCompare that to an item that takes one hour to make and profit of only 150,000, with 24 made in a day the profit is over three and a half million compared

prices, if you have your own minerals great, but if any kind of volume manufacturing is one you simply can’t mine enough to meet your own demand.

You get the general idea on the items I like to add a bit just to take into account fluctuations. So 1.5 mill in jita, so set your evemeep to 1.55 so when it shows profit, it is actually more profit. If anything shows razor thin profit unless there is HUGE volume it isn’t worth the time.

So I filled it all in but! OMG no profit! What is going on!? Evemeep defaults to buy order pricing so what you have to do is go find out what the sell orders are. On a side note, if you can get a profit off a buy order, then you have the option to dump the items for instant or sit on them with sell orders for even more profit!

Note about selling items, there are some skills that go a long way for tax profits etc, such as accounting, and standings with the corp you are selling at, so Jita’s station is caldari navy so higher standing is less money. Those are really the only two things that effect sell orders, there are a whole different set of skills for buy orders if you wanted to try and set a buy order up for minerals. Buy orders can enhance profit but come along with risks if the market crashes people are going to dump on your buy order and you are stuck with now overpriced goods it also takes more SP for skills to get the requisites for a good cheap buy order.

Page 8: Preface - Webs · Web viewCompare that to an item that takes one hour to make and profit of only 150,000, with 24 made in a day the profit is over three and a half million compared

Notice the spread between the two; this is huge as it will be where most of your profit is. Traders use this to make money but direct producers can use this too.

So set evemeep sell price to just under the sell order price as you hope to sell it for around that amount.

Set for 3.390 mill, notice there is still a unit loss, this is due to the market not having any large energy nuets and people are gouging for the price, so next I will show the ‘resolve blueprint’ part

Page 9: Preface - Webs · Web viewCompare that to an item that takes one hour to make and profit of only 150,000, with 24 made in a day the profit is over three and a half million compared

Notice the list of required raw materials grew. I would go to each mineral and find the price in jita, I would round the price up to account for fluctuations. So if Trit is 6.22 in jita for sale. I would set it to 6.5 just to make sure the fluctuations don’t make everything go insane. On the plus side you don’t have to re do them every single day to find profit as they generally have slight fluctuations so the higher numbers will work for longer.

Back to the profit side, now you see there is 573k per unit! Assuming you sell it yourself and that it actually sells which requires some market babysitting. Next is the volume part, it says 2 hours 24 min in mine for making 1 let’s see how much I can do in 24 hours. 10 in one day for 5.7 mill profit if you do PE on the BPO you can get 12 in 24 hours for an extra mill in profit.

Page 10: Preface - Webs · Web viewCompare that to an item that takes one hour to make and profit of only 150,000, with 24 made in a day the profit is over three and a half million compared

If you do multiple items per run it will also tell you the shopping list including your production efficiency.

Now do that for 5 – 10 items, and you then find out, 5 mill profit per day per slot is pretty well doable with some logistics. So each char on an account can have 9 slots easy for production, 9x3 = 27 then 27x5 = 135 mill profit per day assuming everything sells. You can flood the market and sometimes prices crash / spike so I usually assume 3 mill profit per day per slot with varied items. That is a low estimate and does not require much work other than autopilot a freighter and set 2-3 day production runs. Sometimes there are runs on the market and prices double and you can make a killing. This is all part of the end game stuff, meta game, being quick on the draw with dev blog posts etc. Small / large warp disruptor bubbles are often sold / manipulated as it takes forever to make them and they are in constant demand. Cyno generators are sold by the tons but only OK ish profit.

Selling items, I would set up the sell orders for at least 30 days, this gives you the option of sitting on them for a long time, some people max it at 90 days but I find it easier to pick my orders out if I set them to 30 days. Updating of prices can be done every five minutes, there are crazy amounts of strategy find one and run with it. I don’t like .01 isking so I usually do it by 1 isk, or you could try tanking the market and hope someone buys you out and tries a relist then put your extra stock up in a 2nd order and undercut that, there are lots and lots of strategies.

SummaryMy plan from start to finish for a new char in short order steps

1. Train Industry to at least 1 (required by the BPO for POS mods)2. Mass production to 4 or 5 (then eventually advanced mass production to 4 NEVER 5 as it takes

forever)3. Make POS modules as they don’t need production efficiency 4. Make stuff with BPOs as making from copies kills profits5. Train accounting to 4 6. Sell the stuff

After that it is more advanced stuff such as

Advanced mass production 4, for a total of 10 slots per char

Production efficiency 5

Accounting 5

Then whatever BPO skills to make an item that are profitable. For example

Capital Armor Repairer I BPO requires capital ship construction I which is a 40 mill skill book and then it requires Mechanic 5, industry 5, prod efficiency 5 and a researched BPO so you don’t lose on wasted

Page 11: Preface - Webs · Web viewCompare that to an item that takes one hour to make and profit of only 150,000, with 24 made in a day the profit is over three and a half million compared

materials, plus the 40 mill BPO to start with. With some BPOs it takes tons of materials per run. I make three at a time for a two day and some change production time. Example capital armor repairer I, sells for 75.5 mill. I make three of them with BPO ME 25 PE 10, takes two days one hour for a profit of 8.7 milll on sell orders. So there are many different cap modules and people who fly caps are rich, so generally they sell OK. The remote reps sell well, the local armor is good, local shield is ehh, drone control unit when they sell is awesome, currently 7.5 mill per profit and they buy like four or five at a time. (rich carrier pilots)
