Prediger provides exclusive designer lamps, technical lighting and light consulting
services throughout Germany. The company founded in 1921 o� ers over 25,000
di� erent articles from its large online shop and showrooms in Hamburg and Berlin.

Di� erent systems hinder fast insights
The lighting expert manages massive amounts of data on its vast selection of
products. Its product, customer, shipping and ticket information, however, is all stored
in various systems and databases. Over time, managing, exchanging and reporting
this data became more di� cult and time-consuming.
The small IT team at Prediger received the task to publish daily, weekly and monthly
statistics along with order, sales and merchandise management reports from various
business areas. It was then they knew that the existing solution could no longer keep
pace with the company’s ongoing development. The company needed a new tool to
manage its complete data management and reporting requirements.
Simplifying complexity
Prediger primarily wanted a simpler way to visualize masses of data – a universal
front-end solution regardless of the underlying data source. It also wanted to give
business users fast insights through capabilities for ad hoc analytics.
Easy handling, preferably in an environment similar to Excel, was another major
requirement. Reports should also be easy to build and pull information from a wide
range of databases.

Custom solution through coaching
The lighting expert chose Jedox as a fl exible, smart BI solution. Various workshops
prepared the users to work e� ectively with the software. This coaching approach
instead of a standardized training allowed them to tailor Jedox to their own needs
from the beginning in order to later implement individual processes on their own. The
low administration, high fl exibility and easy installation of the software proved to be
a clear advantage.
Fast, fl exible, e� cient reporting
Reporting at Prediger used to be a painstaking process that involved multiple Excel
exports and a great deal of copy and paste. Jedox has simplifi ed this process
considerably. The personalized Web platform now presents dashboards, reports
and special functions for individual users almost automatically. A sales dashboard
visualizes central KPIs, which reveal interesting trends with just a glance. Users can
also conduct detailed analyses on individual articles, even down to postings in the
source system.
The new BI tool is ultrafast and e� cient. The system, for example, processes over
1.3 million accounting records in under three minutes. The online shop can also
automatically calculate reliable delivery times for over 25,000 di� erent articles. In
the case of exhibition articles, these delivery dates often lie weeks ahead. Previously,
employees had to update these individual periods manually, which was a time-
consuming, error-prone process. The system running the online shop now uses
Jedox Integrator (ETL) to automatically transfer the delivery time data and update it
overnight, thereby eliminating all manual work involved.
Future plans
Prediger is extending its Jedox application step by step. Upcoming plans include
integrating Google Analytics or enhancing its current mobile reporting capabilities to
access or create reports anytime and anywhere. In a later phase, the lighting expert
also wants to streamline its planning processes using Jedox Web client.
