1.Microprocessorcontrolcircuitcomparesinputsignaltopressuresensorsignal,whichmonitorsthedownstreamregulatedpressure.Microprocessorcontrolcircuitanalyzesthisdataandenergizestheappropriatecontrolvalve(supplyorexhaustcontrolvalve).

2.Iftheregulatedpressureistoolow,themicroprocessorcontrolcircuitenergizesthesupplycontrolvalve,whichallowssupplypressuretoincreasethecontrolpressuremovingtherollingdiaphragmdownwardopeningthesupplypoppet allowing supply pressure downstream increasing regulated pressure .

3.Iftheregulatedpressureistoohighthemicroprocessorcontrolcircuitenergizestheexhaustcontrolvalve,whichallowsthecontrolpressuretoventtoatmosphere,movingtherollingdiaphragmupwardopeningtheexhaustpoppetandallowingdownstreamregulatedpressuretodecreasebyexhaustingtoatmosphere.

4.Iftheregulatedpressurematchesthecommandedpressurethemicroprocessorcontrolcircuitleavesthesupplyandexhaustcontrolvalvesde-energizedkeepingthecontrolpressureconstant.
