Preaching God Jer. 31:30-34 – “Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD. But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them , saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

Preaching GodJer. 31:30-34 – “Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with

the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the

hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them,

saith the LORD. But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I

will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall

all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will

remember their sin no more.

Preaching Christ• 1Co 2:2 For I determined not to know any thing among you,

save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.• Ac 4:10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of

Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.

• Acts 2 – Preaching Christ is to preach the message of forgiveness and salvation.

• This implies that man knows of the seriousness of their guilt of sin. So the value of preaching Christ is based on that guilt.

• Ro 15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. NOTE: Gal. 3:24,25

Generational• If you review religious history, it is interesting to see that

common subjects of controversy keep repeating itself from generation to generation.

• In the Old Testament, the phrase generation to generation or to the 3-4th generation keeps cropping up.

• Apparently, GOD intended men to “know” Him, to understand His intolerance to men with sin, His plan for man, His love for man, His power, His majesty, His character, His presence everywhere, His infinite knowledge and wisdom, etc. He consistently reminded Israel who is in charge, along with the nations of the world.

• From generation to generation, men would forget about God, and He’d remind them. Those who remembered Him, He’d draw closer to them. Ex. David

Page 9: Preaching God Jer. 31:30-34 – “Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:

Intolerant toward Sin• Lev. 26: 15 -- And if ye shall despise my statutes, or if your soul abhor my

judgments, so that ye will not do all my commandments, but that ye break my covenant:

• 16 I also will do this unto you; I will even appoint over you terror, consumption, and the burning ague, that shall consume the eyes, and cause sorrow of heart: and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.

• 17 And I will set my face against you, and ye shall be slain before your enemies: they that hate you shall reign over you; and ye shall flee when none pursueth you.

• 18 And if ye will not yet for all this hearken unto me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins.

• De 25:16 For all that do such things, and all that do unrighteously, are an abomination unto the LORD thy God.

Page 10: Preaching God Jer. 31:30-34 – “Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:

Need for Preaching Christ.• Job 19:25 For I know that my redeemer liveth, and

that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:• The need for preaching Christ was due to the

failures of men keeping the law and fearing God. • Multitudes gathered around Christ because they

knew from prophecy that He would come to save and bring forgiveness for their sin.

• When He came, men went forth preaching Christ, starting with John the Baptizer. But their pain from their sin, was based upon their fear of God’s wrath. They knew they were accountable to God. Acts 2

• Hard to teach salvation to those who don’t feel the severity of sin and being lost.

Page 11: Preaching God Jer. 31:30-34 – “Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:

Need for Preaching God• Since obedience starts with the fear of God, we

need to preach God and know Him.• Knowing God brought about repentance in Israel,

because of God’s wrath and judgment.• Knowing God, today, will bring about repentance

in our lives also, knowing we are lost in sin, subject to death, and will account for those sins in judgment.

• Understanding this, would I choose to put off to tomorrow what I know needs to be done today?

• People who know the truth, don’t act upon it because they truly DON’T fear God or know God.

Page 12: Preaching God Jer. 31:30-34 – “Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:

Scenario• A man walks up to a woman through the darkness, and

demands that you _________, and sticks a gun to your head, stating if you don’t do as he demands, he will shoot to kill you. Are you going to think this is Russian roulette, and he may not have the bullet in the chamber? No, you will probably obey.

• God comes to us, demanding we “keep His commandments”, or He will cast us in Hell for eternity. Is it Russian roulette thinking, if I make excuse to sin, that I might not be condemned (shot and killed) and go ahead and disobey?

• Friend, God will not overlook ONE SIN. Each sin is the bullet to our relationship with God, our Creator.

• If I really know God, I know He keeps His promises. Find strength to overcome the need to sin in your life….it will be your demise.

Page 13: Preaching God Jer. 31:30-34 – “Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:

Conclusion• Eccl. 12:13 ¶ Let us hear the conclusion of the whole

matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

• 14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

• 2 Thess. 1:7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,

• 8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

• 9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

Page 14: Preaching God Jer. 31:30-34 – “Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
