Pre-Trip Extension: Iguazu Falls The Largest Waterfall System on the Planet This three day extension takes you to Iguazu Falls, located on the river border between Argentina and Brazil. The waterfalls are surrounded by lush tropical jungle and wildlife including coatis, capybaras, howler monkeys and toucans. This incredible system contains 275 falls and has the greatest annual flow of any waterfalls in the world at over 1500 cubic meters per second. Rainbows form over the water making for amazing views and epic photographs. The “Devil’s Throat” is the most spectacular of all, at a staggering 269 feet tall and nearly 500 feet wide. For comparison, the biggest of the Niagara Falls is only 188 feet tall and half as wide. There are various paths and viewing platforms to explore in the area, including lower ones with panoramic views and boat rides where you can feel the spray of the falls, and higher trails including one for brave travelers going directly over “Devil’s Throat”. This location is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and was recently named one of the New 7 Natural Wonders of the World. Your guide, Dani Catania is a local tour veteran with more than a decade of experience. He is bilingual and will coordinate with the locals to show you all the best spots while teaching you about the native wildlife and culture. The majestic scenery of Iguazu Falls is truly a must-see location when visiting Argentina, and Dani is the one to show it to you.

Accommodations

LOI Suites is nestled in dense jungle along the Iguazu River. It features walking trails, suspension bridges, a tiki bar, spa, gymnasium and three outdoor swimming pools. It is located less than 20 km from the Airport and the waterfalls, making for minimum driving

time during our trip. It is sets a new standard for luxury and relaxation in a natural setting, and best of all it incorporates sustainable practices that benefit the ecosystem

and native tribes. There is no better place to unwind after a full day of exploring the falls.

Day 1

We will depart Buenos Aires in the morning and arrive in Iguazu at mid-day. We will take a taxi to the hotel, check into our rooms and then meet for lunch. Afterwards, we will depart for the Brazilian side of the falls where you can take in a wide panoramic

view of the whole system, and up close frontal views of the stunning “Devil’s Throat”. On the way back we will visit Parque Das Aves, where they have over 100 species of

rescued birds as well as butterflies and reptiles. Walk through rainforest trails and take in the sights and sounds of nature while getting an up close look at colorful toucans and

parrots. This park helps to rehabilitate their rescue animals and contributes to local conservation and breeding programs.

Day 2

We will meet for an early breakfast and then at 8am we begin our full day tour of the Argentinian side of the falls. This side includes a larger portion of the system, with longer walks that get you much closer to the action. First we take a train ride to the “Devil’s Throat”, where we can get views from underneath and directly on top of this

immense and turbulent cascade. We will also have gorgeous views of San Martin Island and a chance to get up close to several smaller falls for a more intimate experience.

Day 3After a chance to sleep in and have a relaxing breakfast at the hotel, we will leave

Iguazu in the late morning, arriving back in Buenos Aires in the afternoon. This will put us back in time to meet up with the rest of our group and begin our next set of
