Arrival• Class is from 8-11 and 12-3. No one can enter

the building before 7:15.• 7:30 am – Students go to cafeteria if eating or

library if not.• 7:55 am – Students may enter classroom, room

37. Class starts at 8 and 12. After that they are tardy. Parents must have a visitor’s badge from office to enter building. P.M. students are picked up in at end of Kindergarten hall after 11:45.

Attendance• Attendance is vital

to academic success. Your child cannot learn if he or she is not here.

• Please make sure your child is on time for school every day.

• Make sure you send a written note if your child is absent the next day.

Dress CodeShirt must have a collar.•Solid colors•Sleeves any length•A single logo is allowed on shirts/blouses. The size of the logo is to be no larger than a U.S. quarter coin.

NO BELTS in Pre-K!!!!!!NO shoes with lights!

•Jeans are acceptable. All other pants, shorts, and shirts must be solid color tan, beige, brown, black, gray, or navy. Decoration on pant pockets acceptable.•Length of shorts, skorts, skirts, dresses or jumpers must be no more than three [3] inches above the knee.

Backpacks

• You child needs a backpack large enough to hold a 9”x12” folder.

• Please keep an extra set of clothing in a labeled baggie in case of an accident. You will be called to school if there are no clothes.

• No toys, please or rolling backpacks.

• Label all belongings

Food at School• Breakfast starts at 7:30 am in cafeteria.

Make sure your child can be independent in the cafeteria, or has a good breakfast at home. Label $ in a baggie ($1.25 or .30)

• Snack Time—simple “baggie-sized” healthy snack (no candy or drinks); label with name.

• Special Snacks only on Party Days, 100th Day, or if a snack is appropriate with a lesson. You can send a special birthday snack—prefer to have cookies, not cupcakes, for the class.

Let me know if your child has any food allergies or foods not allowed.

Weekly FoldersStudents will bring home a weekly folder on Thursdays with PEEK.

• Clear out student’s work or art papers.

• Return into folder pockets any school papers that need to come back.

• Look for notes from teacher.

• Papers also come home daily in backpacks.

Class Rules

1. Follow the teacher’s directions. 2. Share.3. Take turns.4. Listen when the teacher is

talking.5. Take care of friends and things.

Rewards for Class Rules

• Students who behave will earn verbal praise, stickers, stamps, and special privileges.

• The class token system allows children to earn 5 plastic chips, at which time they may choose something from the class bucket.

Consequences of Rules

1. Verbal warning2. Students sits 5 min. in Thinking

Chair.3. Student sits again for 5 minutes.4. No stations and a note is sent to

parent.5. Student is taken to principal and

parent will be called.

• I will assess students during 1st reporting period of school and request a conference to go over results.

Dismissal

• Buses and cars load in the front. A parent must be at the bus stop. Daycare vans are on the side. Neighborhood children are walked to their designated area.

• Be on time! After 11 & 3 your child will be in the

office.

Tell Any Changes of Dismissals to Mrs. Scherrer!

Mrs. Scherrer must be notified of any changes of how your child will go home by either note or a call to the office at Carleston(281-412-1412) before school is dismissed (by 10 or 2). Make sure that you update the Emergency Card with names of people you trust to pick up your child. I cannot take a child’s word.
