pre encounter lesson 1: four wonderful opportunities
DESCRIPTION
Pre Encounter Lesson 1 PEPSOLTRANSCRIPT
WELCOME TO OUR
PRE-ENCOUNTER SESSIONS
FOUR WONDERFUL
OPPORTUNITIES
PRE-ENCOUNTER LESSON 1
1. THE ENCOUNTER OPPORTUNITY
“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”
Jeremiah 29:13
Example: The Prodigal son (Luke 15:11-20) No matter how far you may have strayed from
God, you can stop right now and turn back to Him.
2. THE RECONCILIATION OPPORTUNITY
“I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired men.”Luke 15:18-19
We can have a true reconciliation with God only when we acknowledge our sin, when we repent and renounce all the evil we have committed, and ask for God’s forgiveness.
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
1 John 1:9
2 Corinthians 5:18-19 (NIV)
All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.
3. THE RESTORATION OPPORTUNITY
“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”Romans 5:8
Luke 15:23-24
All our sins deserve punishment, but God allowed His Son Jesus Christ to take our place and pay for our sin.
2 Corinthians 3:17-18 (NIV)
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
4. THE PROVISION OPPORTUNITY
“Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.”
John 1:12
Because of our faith in Jesus, God considers us His dear children, making us participants of the same riches in glory as Jesus.
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9not by works, so that no one can boast.”
Ephesians 2:8,9
Romans 8:31-32 (NIV)
What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all--how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?
