INVESTIGATION OF A PROSPECTIVE CAREERThis assessment task provides the opportunity for the student to demonstrate application and development of their knowledge and understanding of the world of work. The student demonstrates initiative and leadership while collaborating with others and get feedback that will help evaluate learning and development of the chosen capability(ies). Conduct secondary research to gain an initial insight into a chosen career. Interview a knowledgeable person within and/or outside the school who can contribute knowledge and understanding relating to the focus area.

PASSPORT to SAFETY OHSW in the WorkplaceStudents undertake the Passport to Safety Course implemented by SafeworkSA for those entering the workforce. Students apply knowledge learnt in this course to reflect and research what the specific OHSW needs are for their future workplace. The studentworks collaboratively during the research and obtains feedback that will help evaluate learning and development of the chosen capability(ies). Also include feedback, self appraisal and evidence of reflection and evaluation.

My Career ProfileStudents complete the Myfutures ‘My Career Profile’ quizzes and reflect on findings at the end of each quiz. Students reflect on what occupations they have been suggested. Skills they have that are appropriate. The student works collaboratively during the research and obtains feedback that will help evaluate learning and development of the chosen capability(ies). Also include feedback, self-appraisal and evidence of reflection and evaluation.

ADELAIDE CAREERS & EMPLOYMENT EXPOThe student visits the Careers Expo, May10/11 to investigate a career of interest and discuss training options with a representative. The student works collaboratively during the investigation and completes a product for distribution on the career spinner at school. Also required is to get feedback that will help evaluate learning and development of the chosen capability(ies) and obtain feedback from others, complete self-appraisal and provide evidence of reflection and evaluation.

SKILLS PresentationStudent investigates the skills and requirements needed to be successful in or their career. They make connections with a school counsellor and/or an employer, to gain insight and to create a product of choice educating teenagers about preparing to work in the field of their choice. Their product might include discussions on workplace hygiene, facing the public, customer service and personal approaches. Students obtain feedback, complete peer and self-appraisal and provide evidence of reflection and evaluation. They provide evidence of development of their chosen capability(ies).

Assessment Type 3: Personal Endeavour – weighting 30%

Students select one capability to be developed within their personal endeavour, exploring the link between that capability and their area of interest.

It is recommended that students present the personal endeavour in two parts: an investigation, that is either research or practical-based

and has an outcome or conclusion (about three-quarters of the total evidence)

an explanation of the connections between their area of interest and the capability selected (about one-quarter of the total evidence)

Maximum of 12 minutes for a multimodal or oral presentation, or a maximum of 2000 words if written.
