Prayer is a doorway to the Father. Jesus spoke of this and modeled itin His own life.  It was a foundation for Him in communion with theFather. This was His alone time with God where He was refreshed andreceived His instructions of what the Father was saying and doing.

Matthew 6:6 But you, when you pray, enter into your room, andwhen you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is insecret; and your Father who sees in secret shall reward you openly.

Luke 6:12 And it came to pass in those days, that he went out intoa mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.

Matthew 14:23 And when he had sent the multitudes away, hewent up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the eveningwas come, he was there alone.

Rom 8:26-27 NKJVLikewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do notknow what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himselfmakes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of theSpirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints accordingto the will of God.

DIFFERENT TIMES TO PRAY

Luke 5:16 KJVAnd he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed.

There are also different times to pray.  In the abovescripture, Jesus withdrew from the crowds so thatHe could have fellowship with the Father.  Quiettime alone in prayer is a wonderful andstrengthening place to be.

DIFFERENT STYLES OF PRAYER

Different styles of prayer can be likened to a teacherhaving different teaching styles. One style is similarto a salesman who talks AT the students.  There’s alecture with no pause for questions or response.  It’sthe same with prayer; this kind of prayer may be quitefluent and say a lot, but there isn’t a lot of pausingwhen the Lord can get a Word in edgewise.  This is aone-way communication when the person talks andthe Lord listens.  One should not expect to hear the Lordduring this kind of prayer.  This is more for breakingthrough to be able to hear Him afterwards.

Another kind of prayer is like a teacher who talksWITH the students. Instead of standing at theblackboard, the teacher is out among the studentsperhaps sharing a bit, then pausing for the students toask questions and give a response.  It’s a two wayprocess of communication and learning.  And thatprocess can be fun.  It’s the same way with talking tothe Lord, He also wants to participate and give aresponse.

MANY TYPES OF PRAYER

There are many kinds of prayers and intercessors. There are loud prayers, soft prayers, silentprayers, whispered prayers, written prayers, singing prayers, instrument prayers, tonguesprayers, groaning and yearning prayers, dancing prayers, banner prayers, living prayersand even wishful thinking prayers. I am surethere are even more kinds of prayers!!  I believethat the Lord is so desperate for our prayers, thatHe turns most anything into a prayer, includingour heart’s desires, when our hearts are turnedtoward Him.

I pray in tongues a LOT.  Sometimesit is whispers with punctuated loudbreath (smile).  Sometimes it is fastand loud in the car by myself.Sometimes it is just my normal voicewith normal speaking tones as I am

working around the house.  In themiddle of the night it is whisperswithout hardly any breath at all. When I walk in parking lots andstores, I have learned how towhisper under my breath in tongues

HOW I PRAY

without moving my lips.  I ampraying according to the will of God.

Sometimes when I am going to sleepI feel very passionate about what Iam praying.  I whisper my prayersvery intensely.  I may be prayingthrough groans and tears, and it isalmost totally quiet.  Sometimes inbed, I just think my prayers in hopesthat the Lord will respond to meback in same fashion.

Most often, I pray outside that quiettime.  If I have something on mymind, I don’t wait for the “prayercloset” opportunity to say it.  Myprayers are more like a conversationwith Him.  It doesn’t matter whereI am, I just say it.  (I mostly pray inmy mind, because I’m not that muchof a natural talker.)  Often when Isay something to Him, He will saysome small Word or phrase back tome that can open up an entire scopeof His answer.  The Lord is an expertat saying powerful and simplepunch lines that open all kinds ofcross references and commondenominators to my mind.

During the day, I may be speakingin tongues consistently, especiallyif I feel a heavy burden upon mysoul or heart.  Prayer meetings

where all gather to speak in tonguesis really powerful.  Those times arealways loud, powerful and dynamicwhen intercessors are all praying intongues and in agreement as theyrotate in taking the lead in English. The Lord’s Presence is strong andpowerful. When I am by myself, most of the time I do not praypowerfully loud English prayers. Ido pray out loud in tongues andEnglish and receive some powerfulbreakthroughs, especially when Ipray in the car or exercising with themusic!! But when I am at homeduring the day, I pray mostly quietprayers or silent communionprayers.

Wayne and I always pray togetherevery night before we sleep.  Wepray over our loved ones andburdens of the day.  And often whenwe are reading the news orsomething that concerns us, we willpray together at that time.In the middle of the night it iswhispers without hardly any breathat all.  When I walk in parking lotsand stores, I have learned how towhisper under my breath in tongueswithout moving my lips.  I ampraying according to the will of God.

THE QUICKENED WORD SCHOOL(HOW GOD SPEAKS)

This teaching is a part of the ministry of The Quickened Word School on How GodSpeaks. In 1984 the Lord Jesus visited Sandy Warner and handed her a solid gold pen.One week later she began writing the book, 101 Ways God Speaks (and How to HearHim.) After years of seeking the Lord and modeling how He speaks, the school was birthed as a multiplied expansion of that book.

If you are hungry for more, you are welcome to go to the school anddownload other teachings as pdf files and also compiled books createdin this same magazine style and colorful format.

Throughout her years of scribing what she sees and hears, she hasshared many Words on her websites to demonstrate His ways. Thankyou for listening and may the Lord bless you!
