prayer of the people - all saints' anglican church

6
Prayer of the People Let us pray to God, the Lord of the Harvest in all things material and spiritual; responding to “Lord, in your mercy” with “… hear our prayer.” As you have blessed the Church with abundant grace, keep us faithful in the offering of Word and sacrament, knowing that all things come from you and return to you. Send out your labourers to gather the harvest of the world, that all may know the riches of your love. Lord, in your mercy … hear our prayer. We pray for all who work that others may be fed, for those who bring in the harvest of the land and the sea. We pray for those employed in processing and transport of food. Grant a more just distribution of the goods of the world. Lord, in your mercy … hear our prayer. Give to us, our families and friends, grateful hearts for all your bounty and a concern for the needs of others. Bless those who work to bring meals to the poor and infirm in this community. Lord, in your mercy … hear our prayer. We pray for all who are hungry and undernourished. We pray especially for the children whose health is damaged by lack of food. Bless those who work for the relief of famine. Lord, in your mercy … hear our prayer. We give thanks for the departed who have been gathered into your care… Grant them the joy of faith brought to fruition in your heavenly Kingdom. Lord, in your mercy … hear our prayer. We offer our prayers, desiring to be faithful labourers for the harvest of Christ’s Kingdom; through the same, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen. The Apostles’ Creed Please stand, as you are able. Celebrant Let us confess the faith of our baptism, as we say, All I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of

heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

The Prayers of the People

Each petition will conclude with “Lord, in your mercy” and the congregation is invited to respond with “… hear our prayer.”

Confession Celebrant Dear friends in Christ, God is steadfast in love and

infinite in mercy; he welcomes sinners and invites them to his table. Let us confess our sins, confident in God’s forgiveness.

Please maintain a prayerful silence. Celebrant Most merciful God, All we confess that we have sinned against you in

thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us, that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your name. Amen.
