Let us Pray to the Lord - Lord, Have Mercy!

Almighty Father, You said that when two or three are

gathered in your name – you would be among them.

Remembering Your words and having received the land of

Ukraine for our heritage; We ask you today to prove us

mindful of this great blessing. Bless our ancestral homeland

Ukraine with honorable works, sound learning, and good

manners. Save us from violence, discord, and confusion;

from pride and arrogance. Defend liberty which is an

expression of your Divine Will. During this time of

difficulty throughout our ancestral homeland Ukraine, fill

our hearts with gratitude, and grant the people of Ukraine,

and all of us the grace to continue to trust in You

and Your mercy as we did in previous days of trouble. We

ask this for we know that you are a gracious and loving

God in whom we are blessed through the Father and the

Son and the Holy Spirit, always now and ever and to the

Господня молитва передує Євхаристійному Причастю

ще й тому, що Бог отець – не мій чи твій, але наш,

і Він нас єднає навколо Господньої трапези. Dо того

ж єдність вимагає і взаємного прощення: "Прости нам

провини наші, як і ми прощаємо винуватцям нашим."

Святий апостол Павло виразно перестерігає перед

недостойним прийманням Причастя (пор. 1 кр. 11, 27).

Словами молитви "прости нам провини наші, як і ми

прощаємо винуватцям нашим", ми, прощаючи нашим

винуватцям, приймаємо прощення від Бога отця для нас.

Oтець, який прощає нам наші гріхи, бажає, щоб і ми

чинили так само: "коли ви прощатимете людям їхні

провини, то й отець ваш небесний простить вам. A коли

ви не будете прощати людям, то й отець ваш небесний

не простить вам провин ваших" (Мт. 6, 14-15; Мр. 11, 25-26).

Провина – це не лише гріх скоєння зла, а й борг

нездійснення добра – Божих дарів, змарнованих або

не використаних на Божу славу і служіння ближнім.

Гордість підступно опановує навіть тих, хто здобувши

чесноти, уважає себе, а не Бога причиною досягнутого.

Горда людина зазвичай не бачить свого гріха; вона

самолюбна; їй важко пробачити когось і важко

просити пробачення, важко поступитися в суперечці;

вона відкидає будь-який авторитет. Tака людина

часто спалахує гнівом, є злопам’ятною, постійно осуджує

інших людей, заздрить їхнім успіхам. (Xrystos naqa Pasxa-384, 680, 778)

Forgiveness The Lord’s Prayer precedes Eucharistic Communion

also because God is not my or your Father, but our Father,

and he unites us around the Lord’s Banquet table. Such

unity also requires forgiveness: “Forgive us our trespasses

as we forgive those who trespass against us.” The apostle

Paul distinctly warns us about unworthy reception of

Communion (1 Cor11:27).

By reciting the words “forgive us our trespasses as we

forgive those who trespass against us,” we receive forgiveness

from God the Father for ourselves inasmuch as we forgive

those who have wronged us. The Father who forgives

us our sins desires that we do the same: “For if you

forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also

forgive you; but if you do not forgive others, neither will

your Father forgive your trespasses” (Mt 6:14-15; Mk 11:25-26).

An offense is not only a sin or wrong that has been

committed; it is also the debt of a good deed not rendered.

Thus a gift from God wasted or not made use of for

God’s glory and the service of our neighbor is an offense.

Pride deceitfully takes control even of those who, having

achieved virtue, regard themselves, rather than God, as the

cause of their achievements. The proud person usually does not see his or her own sin. This person is filled with

self-love, finds it difficult to forgive, and to ask forgiveness

of others, and has trouble relenting. Such a person rejects

all forms of authority and frequently flares up in anger.

He or she bears grudges, constantly judges other people

and envies their successes. (Christ Our Pascha-384, 680, 778)
