1. Immortal, invisible, God only wise,In light inaccessible hid from our eyes,Most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days,Almighty, victorious, Thy great Name we praise.

2. Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light,Nor wanting, nor wasting, Thou rulest in might.Thy justice like mountains high soaring above,Thy clouds, which are fountains of goodness and love.

4. Thou reignest in glory, thou rulest in light,Thine angels adore Thee, all veiling their sight; All praise we would render: O help us to see‘Tis only the splendor of light hideth Thee.

New Testament ReadingMatthew 10:25-31 (KJV)

25. It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household?

26. Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.

27. What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.

28. And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

29. Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? And one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.

30. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.31. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many

sparrows. Song Sparrow

Two Sides of Fear

• Negative fear – being afraid, timid, paralyzed or alarmed with a negative reaction to events and/or things

• Positive fear – to reverence, worship, and have awe for God

What should we not fear according to the Scriptures?

• DO NOT FEAR the following things:- People who serve Satan (Matt. 10:25-26)- People who can kill us and kill the body but not the soul (Matt. 10:28)- Enemies of God (Deut. 7:18)- Evildoers – fret not is the command given

(Psa. 37:1,7; Prov. 24:19)- Supernatural events demonstrating power of God such as at the Transfiguration of Christ (Matt. 17:5-8) and in multiple appearances of angels and God throughout the Bible; we should “fear” and reverence God and God only at all times

What is an important key todealing with fear in our lives?

• An important key to overcoming fear is LOVE!- “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out all fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love –1 John 4:18 (KJV)- “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind (can be translated self-control, clear thinking, good judgment, discipline) – 2 Tim. 1:7 (KJV)

We must operate in perfect love – loving God and others, and not being afraid of people with no real power but only being in awe of God who created the universe!
