Maximum Loads

Teal chairs and derivatives have met the requirements of Standard BS EN 15373: 2007 Test Level 3 Strength and durability & safety requirements for non domestic seating, strength and durability performance Standard EN 1728: 2000. Clauses 6.2.1, 6.2.2 and 6.2.8 relate to static load tests applied and passed which support our recommendation of a maximum load of 25 stones for the patient seating models indicated.

Medicote Anti-bacterial Lacquer

Teal chairs incorporate clear Medicote lacquer, formulated to include an agent that stops bacteria surviving on the surface. 448 Medicote will prevent the spread of Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Escherichia coli 0157 (e.coli), Salmonella enteritidis, Bacillus cereus (food poisoning) and other bacteria with a kill

rate of 99% within 24 hours. (Accredited by Law laboratories ref 05H547).

Medicote also reduces the risk of deterioration, discolouration and odours caused by micro-organisms. Meets the requirements of FIRA Standard 6250: 2005 and rated as Heavy/Severe use.

Contract Fabrics and Vinyls

Teal offer a comprehensive range from carefully selected major contract fabric manufacturers.

High performance vinyls are available with anti-microbial and anti fungal protection. Tested to AATCC147. Vinyls in our collection are effective against a broad spectrum of bacteria and fungi including Bacillus cereus, Bacillus mycoides, Enterocooccus faecalis, Proteus vulgaris, Salmonella typhimurium, Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis,

Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomanas aeruginosa, Salmonella choleraesusi.

Flame Retardancy

Chairs meet Furniture & Furnishings (Fire)(Safety) Regulations 1988; in addition, the covers meet BS5852 Part 2 Ignition Source 5, thereby complying with the requirements of the National Health Service.

Teal can upholster in a customer’s own material. Please contact Teal Customer Services prior to placing an order.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Always follow the care and maintenance procedures specified by the fabric manufacturer.

For General Guidance

Clean and care for the fabric on a regular basis to maintain condition and appearance. Most stains can be removed by wiping clean.

Wipe clean regularly with a damp cloth to remove dust particles and light soiling.

Remove spillages promptly (within 15 minutes) with an absorbent dry cloth.

E cloths are recommended for general cleaning of upholstery.

These are general guidance only. Always refer to the manufacturers instruction for details specific to the chosen fabric.

Testing and Standards

All fabrics and vinyls pass BS5852 Ignition source 5 or higher and BS7176 Medium hazard.

Furniture is manufactured in solid Beech or Laminated Beech and are available in clear or a number of stained finishes.

Meeting the needs of Tissue ViabilityPro-texion™ pressure reducing seat foam helps to distribute body weight across a greater surface area, avoiding localised interface pressure by responding to body heat and forming to the body’s shape. To meet the needs of a variety of client groups, Teal patient seating is available in four seat grades, depending on the

risk of tissue breakdown, following a clinical assessment.Teal offer high grade polyurethane foam as standard, with the option to upgrade to a low/medium risk comfort cushion, or for high risk environments to Pro-texion™ foam, which features 2 layers (the upper layer is Visco elastic foam, which is both temperature sensitive and energy absorbing, while

the lower layer provides support and flexibility for the upper layer). The fourth option for very high risk areas is Pro-texion™ foam, but with the addition of a gel insert (and pommel as standard to help minimise sheer) as standard.

* Pressure mapping produced using an XSensor X3 system, with a healthy 80kg male subject. Cadet vinyl used on standard and AA grade cushions, Vyflex used on BB cushion. The mapping gives a good indication as to the effectiveness of the cushion, but its use must be combined with a programme of nursing care for the individual patient.

A heavy-duty contoured cushion with a gel insert suitable for use up to 190kg (30 stone). Incorporates a thick layer of visco elastic foam to enable stable immersion of the ischial tuberosities. Incorporates a pommel to minimise sheer forces. Base material is made from the highest foam class – Class X: this will ensure longevity and durability in areas of constant use. The Pro-TexAir system can be incorporated, as part of your seating order – at manufacture, on our Apollo range of patient chairs.

The Pro-TexAir system provides an adjustable, low deformation, counter-pressure environment that assist in the healing of ischemic ulcers. Appropriate for the high risk client.

Teal now offer a pressure

mapping service using our trained account managers and the XSensor X3 system.

The system consists of the LX sensor pad with 1296 individual sensing points. The data is then fed into the X3 hand-held data device, allowing clinicians and patients to view accurate, high-resolution representations of the pressure distribution.

Data is captured in realtime and can be stored and viewed at a later stage to compare changes in tissure management.
