The Tourism Sector 2010In 2010 tourism went up in Latvia comparing to the dramatic figures from the previous year.
The bednights of non-resident travelers increased by 12.3%, while arrivals increased even by 16.4%.
The increase of the tourism sector in 2010 is mainly due to the following factors:
• marketing activities by “LiveRiga” in the key priority markets;
• significant increase in demand for Latvian tourism products from Russia;
• the accessibility – by rail, by air, by coach. (passengers served in Riga International Airport increased by 14.7%. comparing to the previous year)

In comparison with the 1st quarter of 2010, when bed occupancy rate comprised 23.9%, in the 1st quarter of 2011 the indicator in Riga hotels has increased (constituting 26.4%), similarly as in hotels of Latvia generally.
