Visamo Kids Foundation (VKF) Visamo was set up in 2002 following the 2001 earthquake in Gujarat Serves as a home that aims to empower lives through access to quality education and provision of amenable living conditions Visamo currently houses 96 underprivileged children from diverse backgrounds. VKF has kids of farm laborers; workers of Urban Municipal Corporations; salt pan workers; rickshaw pullers / bus drivers, from homeless street dwellers, single mothers and many others The children, identified and screened at the age of five (05) years, are given admission in Class I under RTE to the finest English Medium schools of Ahmedabad and pass out of visamo after successful completion of Grade XII Visamo students have been groomed to pursue professional education such as Furniture Designing at NID, Engineering, Chartered Accountancy, Hotel Management, Performing Arts and some have become national level sports players as well

– Sanjay cleared the entrance examination at National Institute of Design (NID) and is currently in the III year, pursuing Furniture designing.

Master Moshin Mansuri

Mohsin got admission in Visamo after the riots in 2002.  The family stays in Idar, Sabarkantha.  He completed Class XII from DPS, Bopal this year.

• Star youth basketball player

• Inter-DPS National Basketball level player (U 14, U 16 & U 19 teams)

• Participated in interschool tournament in CBSE National Tournament held at Chennai

• Received several certifications of participation for various competitions and tournaments

• Currently pursuing Bachelors in Commerce (B. Com ) from a city based college

• Works as a sports assistant instructor in a local sports club of Bopal, Ahmedabad

Ms Kajal SonavaneKajal’s father is an alcoholic and the family of three daughters and one son is supported by the mother who works as a housemaid in Surat slums. Kajal has studied in Tulip International School, Bopal and has passed out of Visamo

• She is a Stellar Bharatnatyam dancer

• Has passed the Sangeet Prarambhik exam held by Gandharv Mahavidhyalaya

• Was awarded Second position in Group dance hosted by 93.4 FM

• Is currently pursuing Bachelors in Arts (B.A) with major in Psychology from a college in Surat.

Social Impact

• Jitendra successful opposed his sister’s early marriage

• Jignasha convinced her alcoholic father to permanently quit drinking

• Pinal Katara, Rohit Dangar and Suresh Dantaniya have started ‘giving back’ to the society … – They volunteer at Visamo– Teach the students in Visamo

during their free time after college• Parents act as facilitators and peer

counsellors– help us reach services to deserving

children

• Help us identify the deserving children through NGOs that work with the rural communities

• Strengthening the Corpus Fund: For a charitable organization, corpus funds are of paramount importance and sustainability.

• Meeting the budget shortfall: The entire cost is raised through donations from individuals/groups. You can help us meet the shortfall in the budgetary requirement

• Infrastructure development– Building a hostel: Currently 16 boys stay at a rented bungalow in the

vicinity of the main building of Visamo. We are raising funds to build a new accommodation or purchase a bungalow for senior boys.

– Greening of the campus: Through projects like Rooftop Rainwater Harvesting (RRWH)/ Solar energy panels for the hostel
