    A practical Example

    Before ERP implementation : Employee applies on job portal ( Naukri.com etc.) HR shortlist candidates and conducts interview. Candidate selected -- offer letter created on word

    and printed , manual entry made in employeedatabase . Employee takes a leave -- entry is made into the

    system manually , has to take a approval on emailfrom manager.

    When employee resigns -- FnF done on mail andsignatures are taken on paper and submitted.

    Database updated manually and marked and enddate.

    through ERP , entry automatically done in thedatabase.

    User applies leaves GUI ,automatically getupdated in database and go for approval.

    workflow concept , just a click clears all his nodues. Employee gets automated mail for no dues and

    database gets updated automatically.

    Concurrent Services

    A concurrent request is fired which does theprocessing. A status of running normal indicates thatyour request is being addressed.

    These requests can be scheduled to run periodicallywithout the users intervention.

    Architecture

    APPL_TOP : Contain product directories for all products being installed

    COMMON_TOP : Directories contain Files common to all the products like HTML Pagesetc.

    10.1.2 Home : Contains configuration file of Forms, report builder

    10.1.3 Home : Contains configuration file of Apache, JVM , and logs for Apache and JVM.

    INST_TOP : Contains all the instance related configuration files. Request log and outputfiles. Startup-shutdown scripts etc. 14

    Installation Options

    Setup has 2 parts Apps and DB

    Same server ( node) or multi node.

    App same node or multi node

    DB - single node or RAC.

    For practice installation can be done on 8Gb RAM , 4 core , 100 Gb HDD system.

    Can be very well integrated with SOA ,SSO , Load Balancer etc.

    1.) Start the database :

    cd ORACLE_HOME / appsutil/scripts /SID_hostname

    To Stop :

    1.)Stop the application :

    Core DBA Apps DBA

    Responsible only for the Database Responsible for both Application and

    Database

    Generally use the expdp/impdp for

    doing schema refresh

    No Schema refresh. Perform full DB

    clone after dropping the dev databaseand then clone the application.

    Apply Opatches whenever needed on

    Oracle binaries and rollback as and

    when needed.

    Apply opatches along with adpatches.

    Ad patches cannot be rolled back.

    Generally 24X7 profile Includes both 24X7 and normal day
