Hello Everyone, It has been a great year serving as your Governor. It is coming to the time we elect a new board of officers. If you are interested in serving your lodge as an officer, please let anyone of us know and we will fill you in on the duties of the position you want to fill. February was a busy month. The WOTM did an awesome job with their Sweetheart dance, which is no surprise. The Moose Legion did a great job with the Mardi Gras dance and the all you can eat shrimp night. I would like to thank all the volunteers who made this possible. I would like for everyone to remember that the Social Quarters is not the place for complaints, or any negative talk cursing and derogatory statements are not allowed. If a complaint is made to the bartender about the language or decorum you will be written up and brought before the board of officers. There have been many changes in our Moose Family Center; but we are always looking to improve it. We would like suggestions from our members as to what we can do to make the Family Center even better and attract more members. We only have about 4% of our members participating in events and visiting our social quarters. Participation in these endeavors helps with the operating cost of the Family Center. This is your Family Center and we need help to make it better. Please take time to put in any suggestions you may have for improving our Family Center in our suggestion box found in the social quarters to the attention of Stuart Saunders. If you sponsor a member who has dropped their membership for four months or longer, Moose International will pay you $20.00 for each member that you re-enroll. This promotion ends April 30th, 2020. For further information, you may contact Stuart Saunders at 804-338-3018. Hello Members, I’m sure we’re all looking forward to Spring even though this winter so far hasn’t been too cold. One very important meeting coming up is the town hall meeting regarding the ONE MOOSE organization Moose International is wanting to put in place this coming May. I mentioned in my last newsletter the importance of every man and woman member to attend the town hall meeting on March 7th @4pm so you completely understand what the ONE MOOSE is all about. Our lodge unlike many other lodges is having this meeting to allow every man and woman to vote on this change to the organization. So, if you care where the organization is headed, please attend this meeting. We just had our Mardi Gras event and hope everyone had a good time. This event was hosted by our Moose Legion committee. Putting these events together is very time consuming. We want to thank Danny Coley and Kristian Rudd for pulling a team together and managing this event. We also want to thank Don and Judy Barrett for the many years of managing the serving of the food for the Special Olympics held at the high school. Don always pulls a team of willing volunteers to make this happen. Our community service committee chairman, Elmore Cook, managed a blood drive with the red cross in February. Elmore puts in a lot of time to make this happen by contacting and following up with the donors as well as helping with the process all day on donation day. We want to thank him for many of the blood drive events he has done over the years. Since our bookkeeper, Betty Whitehead, has been out with hip issues, Jo Ruslanger has been volunteering to prepare and manage the bingo documents for us. She makes sure everything is in place for the Tuesday bingo sessions. We thank you Jo. Is there any of you good Moose members that would be willing to help us on bingo nights/ The members helping now are getting wore down due to lack of volunteers. This would be probably one night a month. We really need help. Please contact me or David Ashby. Our Queen of Hearts game has been suffering compared to past games. The board shows that drawings have occurred 25 times, but members are not buying enough tickets to really move the winnings to a significant number. As of Feb 22, the jackpot is only $603. Keep in mind that you can buy these tickets any time, not just on Sunday. Also, we are drawing on Saturday night, not Sunday. With 27 cards left, the Queen will be coming up soon. Get in the game. We have had two meetings so far and we still need a Secretary, Junior Regent, and Chairmen for Mooseheart and Moose Haven, Higher Degree and Sports and Activities. If you know anyone interested, please encourage them to notify us. Kristian Rudd is running for Senior Regent and she has new ideas and goals, so I hope you will join her board of officers. We will vote March 19th on new officers, so plan to attend the WOTM meeting that evening at 7:00pm. March 21st BUNCO Sponsored by Glenda Saunders and the Membership Retention Committee.
