GENERAL OBJECTIVE

To build a City of Knowledge in the state of Zacatecas,

both with public and private investment, which is an

ecosystem to encourage the development and

competitiveness of the region, through the triple helix

model (academy-business-government) so that it is

economically, environmentally and socially

sustainable.

JUSTIFICATION

• Zacatecas holds the 23rd position in the National Ranking of Science Technology and Innovation of the 2013 Scientific

and Technological Advisory Forum.

• The average level of schooling for people aged 15 and over is 8.6 years, equivalent to the second year of high school

(INEGI 2015) and has 254 researchers in the National System of Researchers in 2018. In Zacatecas there are 49

Universities, Technical Schools and Institutes of Higher Education, which include the Autonomous University of

Zacatecas (24,769 undergraduate students), a Polytechnic University of Zacatecas (1,000 students), a Technological

University of Zacatecas (2000 students), a system of 9 Technological Institutes (Zacatecas, West, North, South,

Nochistlán, Jerez, Loreto, Fresnillo, with over 11,000 students), a Campus of Tecnológico de Monterrey (450

students).

OBJECTIVE

1. Create and provide for an adequate space that

integrates brings together companies, academic

and government institutions, to help increase

competitiveness in Zacatecas, by a continuous

linkage of resident entities of Quantum, under a

knowledge-economy scheme, sharing common

spaces and creating a creative synergy between

the economy and the environment; as well as an

exemplary urban development.

CONCLUDING THOUGHTS

1. The project of “Quantum City of Knowledge” is an unprecedented project in the region, that seeks to

promote the successes and avoid the errors of similar projects, throughout the country and the rest of

the world, with a vision of greater responsibility in the possibilities of sustainability at a wide range

(economic, environmental and social) and to emphasize an intense program of participation with its

environment and its sustainment.

2. The proposed investment follows a responsible and transparent scheme in the design for buildings and

equipment, which will be shared processes: public-private investment.

3. The current juncture offered to us, both by the economy of Mexico and especially that of Zacatecas,

makes Quantum City of Knowledge a unique pole in the country, in terms of research and innovative

technological development in the key strategic sectors of the State (Mining, ITs, Renewable Energies,

Agro-Biotechnology, and Materials and Advanced Manufacturing).
