Get your student’s Google login information from his or her teacher.

The student Google login information will log your student into the Chromebook and into Clever.

None of these resources can be accessed by Google accounts outside the CCSS organization. This is a safety feature, but it also means that you cannot join your student to the Google Classroom with your Google account information.

If you’re having difficulty joining a class, are you using your student Google information?

The on/off button may be on the left side of the device or at the upper right hand corner on the keyboard, depending upon the model. The charger can be connected to either side of the keyboard.Charge the Chromebook before using it for optimum service. The battery charge will last longer if you turn off the Chromebook before closing it.

Clever: What is it and where can it take me?

Clever is a smart spot to begin your Chromebook adventure because it is the place where the district houses most, if not all, of the programs that you will use on your Chromebook.

Many of the programs in Clever will require you to only log into them once, and some of them do not require you to log into them at all once you are logged into Clever.

If you are looking for a program your teacher has asked you to use, look in Clever first. You may see a Teacher page as well as a District page of icons, but rest assured, you’re never too far from finding what you need in Clever.

Your teacher may ask you to mute your microphone so that all of the sounds of your home are not audible.

You can do this by hovering at the bottom of the screen. The tool bar will appear. Click the microphone to turn it off. When a tool is turned off, it will have a slash through it as well as a red circle. See below, left.

Sometimes your teacher will post a link in the chat screen so that you can copy it or click it. The chat screen will open if you click the call out icon ( ) in the upper right hand corner.

This is what it looks like if you have both your microphone and your camera turned off. Do not turn your camera off. Your teacher want to see you and hear from you. Turn your microphone on when you need to speak.
