Color by Syllable Elephant

Look at the small picture in each section of the large picture. Count the number of syllables in each word. Follow the key to color each spot the correct color.

Stamp inside the letter Z with dot stampers. Find the upper and lowercase z's in the zoo picture, stamp them and make the “z" sound each time. Stamp the other letters with a different color and try to make their sound.

Build a Zoo Sensory Bin

Fill sensory bin with white beans. Add zoo animals, plastic fences, and trees. Use pieces to build a zoo. Provide lots of language modeling by commenting on how things look, feel, move, etc.

Fill a tray with colorful cut outs in varying shapes and sizes. Use shapes to create animals resembling those in Color Zoo by Lois Ehlert.

Print and laminate the animals and sorting mats. Talk about different types of animal coverings (fur, feathers, scales, etc). Describe animals that have each one of these coverings. Sort the pictures onto the correct mats.

Giraffe Finger Paint
