Tuesday, April 17 Arrival and transfer to Jerusalem hotels. Optional: 8 pm Opening Yom HaZikaron ceremony at the Kotel. Wednesday, April 18 Yom HaZikaron- Memorial Day We begin with a view of Jerusalem from Haas Promenade, then drive to the Old City in the footsteps of the 1948 story. We will visit the Memorial Room, tour the Hurva Synagogue, join a memorial service for the fallen, and see Batei Machase square- where the Old City surrendered to the Arab Legion. We will continue to the Zion gate and hear about the missed opportunity of 1948 and visit David’s tomb. In the afternoon, we will visit the underground museum in the Russian compound. Return to hotels to prepare for the evening festivities. Evening: Yom HaAtzmaut – Festive prayers. Enjoy the celebrations.

Monday, April 16 When booking your departure, schedule your arrival in Israel on Tuesday, April 17.

Thursday, April 19

Yom HaAtzmaut- Happy 70th Birthday, Israel! We start the day with festive prayers and Hallel. We’ll learn about Jerusalem in 1948: From international city to the Jewish State capital. At kibbutz Ramat Rachel, we will learn about their continuous struggles to block armies from invading Jerusalem. Then, overlooking an archeological site, see the famous environmental olive tree sculpture, Olive Columns. From there, on to the neighborhoods of Katamon and San Simon which were the site of one of the harshest battles of the Palmach in 1948. Drive by the old Knesset building and through Government Hill, and take pictures at the Menorah. We end the afternoon at the Israel Museum.

Friday, April 20

Open the Siege along route #1 We start the day at the Yvel jewelry factory in Motza to learn about modern Zionism and Ethiopian integration. From there, we continue to the Kastel Memorial, site of one of the major battles to open the road to Jerusalem. We then visit the locals at Abu Gosh, an Israeli Arab village, and learn about its special connection to the Jewish people.

Check out of Jerusalem hotels We start the day at the Nitzanim Women Fighters Memorial. At Kibbutz Netiv Haasara , on the Gaza border, we will join the “peace mosaic” hands-on activity. We will lunch in Sderot – famous for its resilience. In the afternoon, we will visit the Nir-am Museum of Water and Security and learn how the Negev became part of Israel. Overnight in Be’er Sheva.

Monday, April 23

And the desert will bloom! We begin the day touring the Ben Gurion University campus and learning about our thriving country. Then, continue to Sde Boker to Ben Gurion’s hut to learn about the declarer of the state and his dreams. Enjoy the desert views at Mitzpe Ramon, then drive to Eilat via the beautiful Ramon crater. Overnight in Eilat.

Tuesday, April 24

Eilat: Um Rash Rash and the Ink Flag The last city liberated in the War of Independence. We will try to understand the importance and lure of this unique city, visit the city museum, and enjoy a driven tour of Eilat. We will enjoy the underwater observatory and end the day with an optional boat ride or jeep tour. Overnight in Eilat.

Wednesday, April 25

Late check-out We begin the day at Timna Nature Reserve, including Solomon’s Pillars, and learn about ancient copper mining. Then, we tour a desert kibbutz to learn the secrets of flourishing in the desert. We’ll drive along the Arava Valley, returning via Dimona to Jerusalem.

Thursday, April 26

Meet with Israel leaders in Jerusalem Drive north to visit the town of Eli in the Binyamin region and meet with locals. Continue to Hadera to the First Aliyah Museum, and enjoy a tour of a local winery.

Sunday, April 29

Late Check-out We start the day at the Gelilot Intelligence Center – Mossad Museum, with a behind-the-scenes tour about Mossad missions. We will visit the Palmach Museum. Then, we continue towards Tel Aviv. To conclude this special tour, we will visit Independence Hall, where the state was declared. We will end our day in Old Jaffa. Farewell dinner and transfer to airport.

Travel Arrangements Eretz Israel Movement can assist you with air travel arrangements or you may work with whomever you prefer. El Al flights from Miami will operate on Monday nights beginning November, 2017.
