How To Begin
Create a storyboard on paper Record
Number of slides needed Title for each slide Information for each slide
Record information in PowerPoint using outline view Eliminates distractions Focus on content
Using Outline View
Choose Outline from the task bar on the left.
Outline Tools
Arrows help you navigate within the outline view
Green arrows promote or demote text
Blue arrows move text up or down
Slide View
You are now ready to move into slide view Slide view allows you to:
Apply a design Format slides Apply pictures, graphs, charts, etc Apply transitions Apply animations
Apply a Design
Choose design from toolbar or Format menu to show Slide Design Templates
Browse templates and click to choose one It will automatically be applied to all slides Choose only one design
In PowerPoint, less is more!
Format Slides
From the Format menu choose Slide Layout
Apply the appropriate layout to each slide Text will be formatted to fit your
choice Each slide could have a different
layout depending on content
Apply Objects
Objects can easily be inserted into PowerPoint using the preformatted slide layout
Click on the appropriate icon on your slide to insert Graphs Clipart Pictures Charts
Apply Transitions
Transitions can enhance or detract from your slideshow
Choose 1 transition and apply it to all slides
To apply a transition
From the Slide Show menu choose Slide Transition.
Choose an appropriate transition and modify it.
Choose method to advance slide. The method you choose will
depend on the purpose of your show.
Apply Animations
This is always the last step Animations should be used only to enhance your
presentation Some slides will have no animations
To apply an animation
On Slide Show menu choose Custom Animation
Highlight text to be animated
Choose Add Effect Choose type of effect
you want Add effect by clicking
on it You can then modify it
using the custom animation task pane
