    ~ERATING INSTRUCTIONS£OR LHB TYPEYOWER CAR

    FOREWARD

    The power car for operation of LHB type oaches with 2x250 KW have been receivedfrom MIs lHB. To meet the increased equirement of electrical load for LHB typecoaches uprated diesel 4ilternator sets KTA-19-(G4) type have been used by F~CFin LHB variant power cars for working Ra hani Express trains with LHB type coaches.These power cars have been pro'vided wi h higher size of radiater fan of 1200mm (-48")dia and fan motor of 40 hp. Due to incre se of radiater fan motor loads from existing20 hp to 40 hp, these power cars are pro ided with one additiona/60 KVA 750/41:5 V,3 phase, 50 htz transformer.

    The design of LHB power car are similar to high capacity power car:3 ofIndian Railways. The import~d LHB type power cars have same capacity ie2x250 KW, as that of hgih capa ity power cars of Indian Railways.

    The operating instructions of t ese power cars may be followed as isslJedvide booklet "Operating instr ctions for high capacity power cars" ofDecember 1992 issued by ICFI adras.

    As high capacity power cars of HB design are provided with uprated diE~selengine KTA-19...(G4), one addi ional 60 KVA, 750/415 V, 3 phase 50 htztransformer ha~e been prov ded in the power cars. The opera1:inginstructions for !these power rs will be similar to as mentioned in ablJvepara except for use of powe supplied by 3 transformers of 60 KVA,750/415V, 3 pHase, 50 htz fo various elect;-ical loads provided in thj~sepov.-'er cars. .

    The distributiuo~ of various eJe ricalloads of power cars of LHB design ~vithuprated diesel engine is as folio ing:

    Transformer (Xr) -Load of radi ter fan motor and ventilating fans of DA set1

    Transformer (X2) -Airconditio ing load, lighting load and other loads.

    Transformer (X3)- Load of radi ter fan motor and ventilating fans of DA set2

    As per the coaQh alteration ins ruction No. ED/CAI/005 (copy encloseq asAnnexure-A) fo~ LHB power ca s transformer (X2) has been connected toNET 1 only due to which during normal operation, DA set 1 has to be madeworking for feeding the airc nditioning and lighting load supplied bytransforer X2. In case of isollati n of DA set 1 the supply to transfer X2 c::anbe extended thr?ugh bus coupl r.

    Hov.-'ever transformer X1 and can be connected to either net 1 or nE~t 2,as per the desigh of Indian Rail ay Power cars.

    MPCB for the radiator fan in the ra~iator control panel for the DG1 and

    DG2 shall be replaced with 63 AmP~ MPCB

    Harness for the input and the ou ut cables for the radiator control

    panel 1 & 2 upto the motors sh II be revised to one grade higher

    cables as per the enclosed sheet nexure -B. Similar changes shall

    be done inside radiator control pa el also. This is essential to prevent

    higher temperatu~ rise in the cabl s giving the feed to the radiator Fan1 &2 I,

    Wire no. 32060J.O2 in S1 switch ard cabinet sh'all be disconnected

    and the contactorl32KO2 shall be e dummy.
