RESTORING POWER & GENERATING RESPECT We had an excellent group of candidates who presented themselves for consideration as we sought to find the right person to direct our communications and marketing programs. In the end we chose Karin Hopkins. A resident of Tuskegee, her work history includes Communications Director for the Alabama Senate President Pro Tempore, Senior Public Information Officer for the Birmingham City Council, Corporate Communications Manager at a public relations agency, television news anchor, business owner and university instructor of grammar, broadcast communications, journalism and writing classes. Ms. Hopkins is in charge of internal and external communications for UBT as well as planning and implementation of special projects. The newly established Wellness Committee has decided on the following priorities— Critical Diseases, Health Testing/ Screening, Diet/Nutrition and Physical Fitness. The committee is discussing ideas that align with these priorities and is moving towards implementing programs to present to everybody who has a stake in municipal health care costs. Stay tuned…
